Emily Sofia Alvarado Natividad (born 9 June 1998) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga MX Femenil club Tijuana. Born in the United States, she represents Mexico at international level.

Youth career

Alvarado played youth soccer for the Houston Dynamo/Dash Youth club [3] and the Elite Clubs National League club Texas Rush. [4]

Collegiate career

Alvarado was a team captain and starter for Texas Christian University's NCAA Division 1 women's soccer program in Fort Worth, Texas. [5] [6] [7] [8] She was a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist in the 2020–21 season, was named 2020–21 Big 12 Conference goalkeeper of the year, a first-team United Soccer Coaches All-American player, and ended her career as Texas Christian University's all-time career leader in shutouts with 21. Club career

Stade de Reims, 2021–2023

On 18 July 2021, French Division 1 Féminine club Stade de Reims Féminines signed Alvarado to a two-year contract. [10] She appeared in 39 of 40 matches and tallied 150 saves for Reims before leaving the team after its 25 March 2023 match against ASJ Soyaux-Charente. [11] [8]

Houston Dash, 2023–2024

On 7 April 2023, the United States National Women's Soccer League club Houston Dash announced that it had signed Alvarado [11] through the remainder of the 2023 season with an option to extend her contract through 2024. [8]

Portland Thorns, 2024

On 20 April 2024, the Houston Dash traded Alvarado to Portland Thorns FC in exchange for $35,000 in allocation money. [12] On 16 August 2024, Portland waived Alvarado to allow her to pursue other opportunities abroad. [13]

Club Tijuana, 2024–

On 21 August 2024, Tijuana announced that they had signed Alvarado. [14]

International career

Alvarado made her senior debut for Mexico on 26 May 2019 in a friendly match against the United States. [15]

The Houston Dash are an American professional women's soccer team based in Houston, Texas, that competes in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). The Dash began play in the 2014 season. The team plays its home games at Shell Energy Stadium.

The 2014 season was the Houston Dash's inaugural season as a professional women's soccer team. As the first expansion team to the National Women's Soccer League, United States' top-flight women's league, the Dash played a 24-game schedule that saw them compete against the eight other NWSL teams, playing each at home and away at least once. The Dash finished the season in last place and ended the season with 5 wins, 3 draws, and 16 losses and a -21 goal differential. The season for the Dash began on April 12, 2014, and concluded August 20, 2014 after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The 2015 season was the Houston Dash's second season as a professional women's soccer team. As a member of the National Women's Soccer League, United States' top-flight women's league, the Dash's schedule included 20 total games against eight other NWSL teams. The Dash sought to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history after finishing in last place during their inaugural season. The 2015 regular season began on April 10, 2015.
