Envy / Jesu is a split album between Japanese hardcore band Envy and Justin Broadrick's Jesu. It was originally released in Japan by Daymare in 2008. Conspiracy Records released a 12" vinyl version,limited to 2,000 copies in white,transparent blue,gold and silver.
Hydra Head Records re-released the album in North America on July 26,2009. [1] Hydra Head also released a double 10" vinyl edition in September,2009.

Jesu are a British experimental metal band formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of his band Godflesh. It shares its name with the last song on Hymns,the final album of Godflesh's initial run. Jesu's sound is heavily layered and textured,incorporating a diverse mix of influences. Broadrick himself has stated that "...it's very loosely speaking pop/rock/metal/electronica ... I'm intentionally writing what I consider to be coherent 'pop' songs".
Isis was an American post-metal band formed in Boston,Massachusetts in 1997. The band borrowed from and helped to evolve the post-metal sound pioneered by bands such as Neurosis and Godflesh,characterized by lengthy songs focusing on repetition and evolution of structure. Isis's last studio album,Wavering Radiant,was released on May 5,2009. Isis disbanded in June 2010,just before the release of a split EP with the Melvins. In 2018,the group reformed as Celestial for a one-off show to pay tribute to Caleb Scofield.
Jesu is the first full-length album by British experimental music band Jesu,released through Hydra Head Records on 8 December 2004. Unlike the Heart Ache EP,where Justin Broadrick executed all instrumentation himself,this release features Ted Parsons on drums,Diarmuid Dalton on bass,and a guest appearance by Paul Neville on guitar on the track "Man/Woman". The album was released in Japan by Daymare Recordings and contains two additional instrumental remixes on a bonus disc. In February 2005,a double vinyl picture disc set was released by Hydra Head,limited to 1000 copies. The picture disc pressing contains an alternate,cleaner mix than the CD or standard LP editions.
The Heart Ache EP is the first release by Jesu. Justin Broadrick wrote both tracks,played all of the instruments as well as mixed and produced the EP. It was originally released on 30 August 2004 by Dry Run Records;Avalanche Recordings released a 12" vinyl version in January 2008 also. The vinyl version is limited to 1500 copies.
Justin Karl Michael Broadrick is an English musician,singer and songwriter. He is best known as a founding member of the band Godflesh,one of the first bands to combine elements of extreme metal and industrial music. He was briefly in the English grindcore band Napalm Death when he was a teenager in the mid-1980s,writing and recording guitar for their debut album,Scum. Broadrick has also maintained a parallel career as a producer,producing records and remixes for groups such as Pantera,Isis,Mogwai and Hydra Head labelmates Pelican. Since the 1990s he has worked with Kevin Martin as Techno Animal making various genres of electronic music and hip hop. Since 2012,he has been releasing hard techno music under the solo moniker JK Flesh. Broadrick has set up record labels such as HeadDirt,Avalanche Recordings,Post Mortem Productions,Lo Fibre and Heartache.
Botch was an American mathcore band formed in 1993 in Tacoma,Washington. The band,featuring Brian Cook,Dave Knudson,Tim Latona and Dave Verellen,spent four years as a garage band and released several demos and EPs before signing to Hydra Head Records. Through the label,Botch released two studio albums:American Nervoso (1998) and We Are the Romans (1999). The group toured extensively and internationally in support of their albums with liked-minded bands such as The Blood Brothers,The Dillinger Escape Plan,Ink &Dagger and Jesuit. Botch struggled to write a third studio album,and in 2002 the group broke up due to tensions among the band members and creative differences. Hydra Head posthumously released an EP of songs the group had been working on before they split titled An Anthology of Dead Ends and a live album documenting their final show titled 061502 in 2006.

Knut are a mathcore/sludge metal band from Geneva,Switzerland that formed in 1994. They started by playing in the local underground squat scene,publishing a couple of seven-inch releases as well as their first CD in 1997,titled Leftovers. This early material was put out on Snuff Records,which was run by Roderic Mounir and Didier Séverin. In 1998,Knut released their first full-length,Bastardiser,which showcased a sharper and more focused aggression,combining heavily distorted guitars,odd-time signatures,use of discordance and repetition,and harsh vocals.
Aaron Turner is an American musician,singer,graphic artist,and founder of label Hydra Head Records. He is most widely known for his role as guitarist and vocalist for the post-metal bands SUMAC and Isis,while also participating in several other bands and projects such as Old Man Gloom,Lotus Eaters and Split Cranium,a collaboration with Jussi Lehtisalo of Finnish band Circle who toured with Isis in 2009.

Jesu / Eluvium is a split LP between Justin Broadrick's Jesu and Matthew Cooper's Eluvium. It was released through Hydra Head Records on July 5,2007. The album was recorded at Broadrick's own Avalanche Studio. Broadrick and Cooper wrote,recorded and mixed their respective tracks with John Golden mastering all tracks. Broadrick featured the tracks he had produced later on the Jesu release Why Are We Not Perfect?.
Isis was an American post-metal band,active from 1997 until their disbandment in 2010. They released five full-length albums,five extended plays (EPs),seven live albums,two singles,and have collaborated with other artists on numerous other projects.
The Melvins and Isis released a split EP on Hydra Head Records in 2010,with each band contributing two tracks. Isis' "Way Through Woven Branches" had previously only been available as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of their last full-length,Wavering Radiant,whilst "Pliable Foe" was exclusive to this release. Both tracks were recorded during the Wavering Radiant sessions. Meanwhile,the Melvins tracks are reworked from their release The Bride Screamed Murder,described as displaying the "dadaist/trickster tendencies of the band which has frustrated and delighted fans in equal measure since the beginning of their existence". The album was released July 13,2010 on CD format,with vinyl copies available a week earlier from Vacation Vinyl in Los Angeles.

Faith Coloccia is an American artist and musician. She is most known as being the founding member and primary songwriter for the post-rock band Mamiffer. Coloccia has also been a member of Everlovely Lightningheart,Pyramids,House of Low Culture and Split Cranium. In 2009,she co-founded the independent record label SIGE Records with her husband Aaron Turner.
