Epischura is a genus of copepods in the family Temoridae. [1]

Species

The following species are recognised in the genus Epischura: [2]

It has recently been proposed that Epischura is parapheletic with respect to Heterocope and that the Siberian species, Epischura baikalensis and Epischurella chankensis, be moved to the resurrected genus Epischurella . [3]

Diaptomus is a genus of copepods with a single eye spot. It is superficially similar in size and appearance to Cyclops. However it has characteristically very long first antennae that exceed the body length. In addition, the females carry the eggs in a single sac rather than the twin sacs seen in Cyclops. It is a copepod of larger freshwater ponds, lakes and still waters.

Metridinidae is a family of copepods, comprising three genera – Gaussia, Metridia and Pleuromamma. It has also been referred to as "Metridiidae", but following a petition to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, that name has been restricted to the family Metridiidae Carlgren, 1893, based on the anthozoan genus Metridium. All species in the family can produce blue-green bioluminescence; the light is produced in glands, whose position varies between genera.
