Ethiopia International

The Ethiopia International is an international badminton tournament established in 2011, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and rated as BWF Future Series event. [1] The 2011 tournament points used as a qualification for the players to compete at the London Olympic Games. [2] In 2014, the tournament level-up to International Series, with total prize money US$ 5.000 [3] The tournament is aimed at evaluating and improving the stage and performance of players; and also to show the image of Ethiopia. [4]

His best achievement is to win the 2014 Thomas Cup.

Son Wan-ho is a South Korean badminton player. He reached a career high as world number 1 in the men's singles in May 2017. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. He plays primarily defensively, and began playing badminton after a teacher suggested it to him in elementary school. He holds a bachelor's degree from Inha University in Incheon, South Korea. In 2017, he helped the Korean national team reach the final at the Sudirman Cup and won that tournament. He is married to compatriot women's singles player, Sung Ji-hyun.

Fabio Caponio is an Italian badminton player. He plays for the Italian national team as well as the Italian Air Force.

Kevin Strobl is an Italian badminton player. He competed at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, and won the men's doubles bronze medal partnered with Lukas Osele.

Silvia Garino is an Italian badminton player. She won her first senior international title at the 2016 Ethiopia International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Lisa Iversen. She and Iversen claimed the women's doubles National Championships title in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, together with Kevin Strobl, Garino won the title in mixed double at the National Championships.

Lisa Schack Iversen is an Italian badminton player. She won her first senior international title at the 2016 Ethiopia International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Silvia Garino. Played for the Italian Air Force team, she claimed the women's doubles National Championships title in 2017 with Garino.

Enrico James is a South African badminton player. In 2011, he won the bronze medal at the All-Africa Games in the mixed doubles event partnered with Stacey Doubell. In 2012, he won the bronze and silver medal in the men's and mixed doubles respectively at the African Championships in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Matej Hliničan is a Slovak male badminton player. In 2014, he won the Ethiopia International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Bridget Shamim Bangi of Ethiopia, and became the runner-up in the men's doubles event with Arnaud Genin of French. In December 2014, he and Bangi became the runner-up at the Botswana International tournament, they were defeated by the South African pair in the final round. In 2015, he teamed-up with Jan Fröhlich in the men's doubles event, and they became the runner-up at the Puerto Rico International tournament.

Elizaberth Chipeleme is a Zambian badminton player.

Chongo Ezra Mulenga is a Zambian male badminton player. In 2013, he won the men's singles title at the Ethiopia International tournament. In 2014, he placed third at the Uganda International in the mixed doubles event partnered with Ogar Siamupangila. Mulenga represented his country at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 2011 BWF Season was the overall badminton circuit organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2011 badminton season to publish and promote the sport. Besides the BWF World Championships, BWF promotes the sport of badminton through an extensive worldwide programme of events in four structure levels. They were the individual tournaments called Super Series, Grand Prix Events, International Challenge and International Series. Besides the individual tournaments, team events such as Thomas & Uber Cup, Sudirman Cup and Suhadinata Cup are held every other year.

The 2008 BWF Season was the overall badminton circuit organized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2008 badminton season to publish and promote the sport. Besides the BWF World Championships, BWF promotes the sport of Badminton through an extensive worldwide program of events. These events have various purposes according to their level and territory in which they are held but those events owned by BWF seek to showcase the Sport via the widest possible quality television broadcast and build the fanbase of the Sport throughout the World.

Dona Lekha Shehani Handunkuttihettige is a Sri Lankan badminton player. She started to playing badminton at the age of 8. In 2009, she began to participate in the national badminton tournament, and in 2013, she won her first national title. She competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2014, she was the runner-up at the Uganda International tournament in the women's singles event. In 2016, she won the singles title at the Ivory Coast International, and in 2017, she won doubles title at the Ethiopia International in the women's singles and doubles event. Shehani was graduated from the Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa.
