European Universities Table Tennis Championships were the first organised in 2007 and have been organised annually since.

The European Universities Table Tennis Championships are coordinated by the European University Sports Association along with the 18 other sports on the program of the European universities championships.

In order to be considered for the making of the list, competitions must be ranked among the highest possible rank (R1) by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF); these competitions are: 1) Summer Olympic Games, 2) Youth Olympic Games, 3) World Table Tennis Championships, 4) ITTF World Youth Championships, and 5) Table Tennis World Cup. Masters, as well as Para meets, such as the Para World Championships and the Paralympic Games, were not taken into consideration, as per ITTF guidelines.

The European Under-21 Championships is an annual table tennis tournament organised under the authority of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU). The introduction of the event to the table tennis calendar was approved at the ETTU Congress in 2015, with the first competition held in Sochi, Russia, in February 2017.

The INAS Global Games is a quadrennial global, international multi-sport event organised by the International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS). First organised in 2004, it is intended for elite competition in disability sports for athletes with intellectual disability and, since 2017, autism and down syndrome. It is the largest sporting event of its type. Athletes must have received classification from INAS to compete.

The 10th Asian Table Tennis Championships 1990 were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9 to 17 December 1990. It was organised by the Table Tennis Association of Malaysia under the authority of Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) and International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
