The women's field hockey tournament at the 2003 Pan American Games was the 5th edition of the field hockey event for women at the Pan American Games. It was held over a ten-day period beginning on 3 August, and culminating with the medal finals on 13 August. All games were played at the Santo Domingo Stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Contents

Argentina won the gold medal for a record fifth time after defeating the United States 3–1 in the final. Uruguay won the bronze medal by defeating Chile 5–4 in penalties after the match finished a 2–2 draw. [2]

The tournament served as the Pan American qualifier for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. [3]

The men competed for the tenth time at the Pan Americans, the women for the fifth time.

The 2004 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy was the 12th edition of the Hockey Champions Trophy for women. It was held between 6–14 November 2004 in Rosario, Argentina.

The 2001 Women's Pan American Cup was the 1st edition of the Women's Pan American Cup. It was held between 8 and 18 March 2001 in Kingston, Jamaica. The tournament doubled as the qualifier to the 2002 Hockey World Cup to be held in Perth, Australia. The winner would qualify directly while the teams ranked between 2nd and 4th would have the chance to obtain one of six berths at the World Cup Qualifier in Amiens and Abbeville, France.
