The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. The ISU was formed to establish standardized international rules and regulations for the skating disciplines it governs, and to organize international competitions in these disciplines. It is now based in Switzerland.
The European Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is the sport's oldest competition. The first European Championships were held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany, and featured one segment, compulsory figures, with seven competitors. They have been held continuously since 1891, with only five interruptions, and have been sanctioned by the ISU since 1893. Women were allowed to compete for the first time in 1930, which is also the first time pair skating was added to the competition. Ice dance was added in 1954. Only eligible skaters from ISU member countries in Europe are allowed to compete.
Manuel Koll is an Austrian former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Austrian national champion and reached the free skate at two ISU Championships — the 2007 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf and the 2008 European Championships in Zagreb. He is coached by his mother, Ursula Koll, who competed internationally as a pair skater.
Barbora Řezníčková, née Silná is a Czech-Austrian ice dancing coach and former competitor who represented Austria for most of her career. With Dmitri Matsjuk, she is a four-time Austrian national champion and qualified for the free dance at four ISU Championships. With Juri Kurakin, she won three Austrian national titles and reached the final segment at three ISU Championships.
The Austrian Figure Skating Championships are held annually to crown the national champions of Austria. Skaters compete in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance at the senior, junior, and novice levels, although not every discipline is held every year due to a lack of participants.
Juri Kurakin is a former competitive ice dancer who is best known for his partnership with Barbora Silná for Austria. Together, they won three Austrian national titles and reached the final segment at three ISU Championships. Earlier in his career, Kurakin competed for Estonia and Bulgaria.
Kerstin Frank is an Austrian former competitive figure skater. She is a six-time national champion and represented Austria at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She has won eleven international medals and reached the free skate at nine ISU Championships.
The European Youth Olympic Festival is a multi-sport event held in both summer and winter disciplines every second year. Figure skating is one of the sports in its winter edition. The competition is held in junior category.
Miriam Ziegler is a retired Austrian pair skater. With her skating partner, Severin Kiefer, she is a seven-time Austrian national champion and represented Austria at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. As a singles skater, she is a two-time Austrian national champion and competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Günter Anderl was an Austrian figure skater who competed in men's singles. He was the 1968 Winter Universiade bronze medalist, 1969 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and a three-time Austrian national champion (1969–1971). He competed at two Winter Olympics, in 1968 and 1972.
The IceChallenge is an annual international figure skating competition, organized by the Grazer Eislaufverein and generally held every autumn in Graz, Austria. In some years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance.
Severin Kiefer is a retired Austrian figure skater. He is a ten-time Austrian national pairs champion and a three-time national bronze medalist (2012–14) in men's singles. He and Ziegler have represented Austria at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix in Austria is an international figure skating competition. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union, it is periodically held in the autumn as part of the Junior Grand Prix (JGP) series. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance.

The 2015–16 ISU Junior Grand Prix was the 19th season of a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union. It was the junior-level complement to the 2015–16 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. At each event, skaters also earned points toward qualifying for the final. The top six skaters or teams from each discipline met at the 2015–16 Junior Grand Prix Final, held together with the senior final.
The 2016 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held from 14–20 March 2016 in Debrecen, Hungary. Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", the event determined the World Junior champions in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
