Roman Galay (born 20 August 1998) [1] is a Finnish former figure skater. He is a two-time Finnish national champion (2019, 2020). [2] He has competed at a total of five ISU Championships, at two European and three World Junior Championships. [1]

He married Russian-born Georgian figure skater Anastasiia Gubanova on 26 July 2024. [3]

Career

Galay lived in Lappeenranta when he was young, then he moved to the Lahti region after middle school. He trained in Vierumäki where he completed both a physical education instructor's degree and high school.

In 2018 he relocated to Saint Petersburg where he was coached by Evgeni Rukavicin. Galay won Finnish Figure Skating Championships the following two years. [4]

The 2016–17 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final took place from 8 to 11 December 2016 at the Palais omnisports Marseille Grand-Est in Marseille, France. Marseille was announced as the host on 27 October 2015. The combined event is the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior and junior levels.

The 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating was a series of senior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union that were held from October 2022 through December 2022.
