The European Youth Olympic Festival (also European Youth Olympic Days) is a multi-sport event held in both summer and winter disciplines every second year. Figure skating is one of the sports in its winter edition. The competition is held in junior category.

The Nebelhorn Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held in Oberstdorf, Germany. In most years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The Fritz-Geiger-Memorial Trophy is presented to the team with the highest placements across all disciplines.
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) is a biennial multi-sport event for youth athletes from the 50 member countries of the association of European Olympic Committees. The festival has a summer edition, held for the first time in Brussels in 1991, and a winter edition, which began two years later in Aosta. It was known as the European Youth Olympic Days from 1991 to 1999.
Sarah Stefanie Hecken is a German retired figure skater. She is a four-time German national champion and has won twelve senior international medals, including six gold. She has placed as high as 11th at the World Championships. Her first international victory was at the 2007 Junior Grand Prix event in Germany.
Figure skating is a part of the FISU World University Games. It was first held as part of the Universiade in 1960. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating.

Athletics has featured as a sport at the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival since its first edition in 1991. It has appeared on the programme at every subsequent edition of the biennial multi-sport event for European athletes under the age of 18. This age group corresponds with the youth category of athletics competition. However, during the games 2013, 2015 and 2017, the age group was changed to only include athletes under the age of 17. From the Baku games in 2019, the under-18 is again the age standard. That is, athletes must be either at the age of 16 or 17 of the year of the festival.
Buse Coskun is a Turkish figure skater. She is a ten-time Turkish medalist.She represented Turkey at the Netherlands 2004 World Junior Figure Skating Championships and placed 46th, at the Germany 2004 Pokal der Blauen Schwerter Chemnitz ISU Junior Grand Prix in Germany and placed 37th place, at the 7th European Youth Olympic Festival were only held in junior single skating categories in Monthey, Switzerland, between January 22 and January 29 Youth Olympic Winter games and placed 22nd place, at the 2006 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Ljubliana and placed 25th place.

The 2017 Russian Figure Skating Championships were held from 20 to 26 December 2016 in Chelyabinsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The results were among the criteria used to select Russia's teams to the 2017 World Championships and 2017 European Championships.

Silvia Valeria Hugec is a Slovak-American retired figure skater. She is the 2018 Slovak national champion and represented Slovakia at the 2018 European Championships, where she qualified to the final segment.

Alina Urushadze is a retired Latvian-born Georgian-Russian figure skater who represented Georgia. She is the 2019 Bosphorus Cup silver medalist and the 2019 Volvo Open Cup bronze medalist. She placed 11th at the 2019 World Junior Championships and 5th at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics.

Arlet Levandi is an Estonian figure skater. He is the 2022 Tallink Hotels Cup champion and a two-time Estonian national silver medalist. At the junior level, he is the 2022 European Youth Olympic Festival champion, the 2021 JGP France II silver medalist, the 2021 JGP Slovenia silver medalist, and a 2020 Winter Youth Olympic champion in the team event. Levandi is the first men's singles skater from Estonia to win a Junior Grand Prix medal.

Single skating competitions on the junior and novice levels were held on December 16-18, 2022 at the Eissportzentrum Oberstdorf in Oberstdorf.
Figure skating at the 2023 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held from 25 to 27 January 2023 at the Ice Stadium "Claudio Vuerich" in Pontebba, Italy. Medals were awarded in boys' and girls' singles. To be eligible, skaters must have been born between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2008.
The 2022 German Figure Skating Championships were held on December 9–11, 2021 at the Eissporthalle Neuss in Neuss. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles and ladies' singles on the senior level and pair skating and ice dance on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Single skating competitions on the junior and novice levels were held on December 17–19, 2021 at the Eissportzentrum Westfalen in Dortmund. The results of the national championships were among the criteria used to choose the German teams for the 2022 European Championships, 2022 Winter Olympics, 2022 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, 2022 World Championships and 2022 Junior World Championships.
