The Fourth Federal Electoral District of Chiapas(IV Distrito Electoral Federal de Chiapas) is one of the 300 Electoral Districts into which Mexico is divided for the purpose of elections to the federal Chamber of Deputies and one of 12 such districts in the state of Chiapas.

Chamber of Deputies (Mexico) lower house of the parliament of Mexico

The Chamber of Deputies is the lower house of the Congress of the Union, the bicameral legislature of Mexico. The other chamber is the Senate. The structure and responsibilities of both chambers of Congress are defined in Articles 50 to 70 of the current constitution.

It elects one deputy to the lower house of Congress for each three-year legislative period, by means of the first past the post system.

District territory

The Fourth District of Chiapas is located in the north-western portion of the state and covers the municipalities of Amatán, Berriozábal, Coapilla, Copainalá, Ixtacomitán, Ixtapangajoya, Juárez, Ocozocoautla de Espinosa, Ostuacán, Pichucalco, Reforma, San Fernando, Solosuchiapa, Sunuapa and Tecpatán. The district's head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations are gathered together and collated, is the city of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa.

Ocozocoautla de Espinosa Municipality in Chiapas, Mexico

Ocozocoautla de Espinosa is a town and municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas. It is located in the western part of the state, 24 km west of Tuxtla Gutierrez covering parts of the Depresión Central and the Montañas del Norte. It is bordered to the north by Tecpatán, to the east by Berriozábal, Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Suchiapa, to the south by Villaflores and to the west by Jiquipilas and Cintalapa. The name comes from the Nahoa language and means ‘forest of ocozote trees’. ‘De Espinosa’ was added in 1928 to honor Raymundo Enríquez Espinosa who was the first governor of the state of Chiapas. Ocozocoautla gained city status in 1926. The climate is warm and humid and the vegetation is mostly high and medium rainforest.

The L Legislature of the Mexican Congress met from 1976 to 1979. It consisted of senators and deputies who were members of their respective chambers. They began their duties on September 1, 1976 and ended on August 31, 1979.

The LIV Legislature of the Congress of the Union met from September 1, 1988, to August 31, 1991.

Sami Gabriel David David is a Mexican politician affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party. As of 2014 he served as Deputy of the LII, LIV and LIX Legislatures of the Mexican Congress and as Senator of the LVI and LVII Legislatures as a plurinominal representative.
