From Then On is the eighth studio album by German DJ Paul van Dyk. It was released on 20 October 2017 through his label Vandit. The album features guest appearances from many artists, including Ronald van Gelderen, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Jordan Suckley, Pierre Pienaar, and Tristan D.

Background

The album consists of 14 songs, including previously released singles "Touched by Heaven", "Everyone Needs Love" and "Stronger Together". Van Dyk spoke of the album, he said "This intensified experience of sights, sounds and sensations will be our next level of entertainment. Paired with music of my upcoming album From Then On, it’s going to be a celebration of trance, life and unity." [1] Van Dyk's first since 2015, the album is a tribute to a crucial moment since 2016 when he went through a rehabilitation process after a near-fatal accident. [2] The album was written by van Dyk when he was on tour, travelling. [3]

Vocal trance is a subgenre of trance music that focuses on vocals and melodies. The subgenre came into existence in the early 1990s, when trance was still developing. Although many early trance records used vocal samples mixed in with the beats, the earliest examples of the style appeared in 1992–93.

"For An Angel" is a trance track by German DJ Paul van Dyk, which served as his debut track and would become his most famous work. The song was initially released in 1994 as a track on 45 RPM on the MFS record label, which was van Dyk's first studio album. It was later reworked and re-released in 1998 as "E-Werk Remix" on Deviant Records, a homage to the E-Werk nightclub where van Dyk used to be the resident DJ, the song held number one on the UK Dance Chart for several weeks. Since its release, the track has become one of the greatest and most influential trance tracks of all time. It was voted as the eighth greatest dance record of all time by Mixmag readers. In Between is the fifth studio album by Paul van Dyk released on August 14, 2007. The album features a wide range of collaborations including David Byrne of Talking Heads, Jessica Sutta of the Pussycat Dolls, Ashley Tomberlin of Luminary, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Lo-Fi Sugar, Rea Garvey of Reamonn, Ryan Merchant and Wayne Jackson. The latter had collaborated earlier with Paul van Dyk on the song "The Other Side". The album also features a vocal sample of Ben Lost from Probspot's "Blows My Mind" on the song "Another Sunday".
