The 2022 Fyter Fest was the fourth annual Fyter Fest professional wrestling event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The event aired as a four-part series of television special episodes, encompassing the two-week broadcasts of AEW's weekly programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite on TBS and Friday Night Rampage on TNT. The 2022 event expanded upon the previous two years, which were held as a two-part special of Dynamite.

Contents

Week 1's episodes were held on July 13, 2022, at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia, while Week 2's episodes were held on July 20, 2022, at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. For both weeks, Dynamite aired live, while Rampage aired on tape delay, with the first week's Rampage airing on July 15 and the second week's on July 22.

Production

Background

Fyter Fest is a professional wrestling event held annually during the summer by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since 2019. The fourth event in the Fyter Fest chronology, it was scheduled to be held as a four-part television special. While the previous two years were only held as a two-part special of Wednesday Night Dynamite , the 2022 event was expanded to also include each week's broadcast of Friday Night Rampage . Dynamite aired on TBS with Rampage on TNT. The first week was held on July 13, 2022, at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia, while the second week was held on July 20, 2022, at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. For both weeks, Dynamite aired live while Rampage aired on tape delay, with the first week's Rampage airing on July 15 and the second week's on July 22.

Storylines

Fyter Fest featured professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. [2] Storylines were produced on AEW's weekly television programs, Dynamite and Rampage, the supplementary online streaming shows, Dark and Elevation , and The Young Bucks' YouTube series Being The Elite .

The two-part, nine-day event began on January 15, 2020, from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida with a special episode of Dynamite, which aired as a television special on TNT. The series continued with Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea, with matches from the cruise airing on the January 22 episode of Dynamite. The events continued until January 24. The event takes its name from an old World Championship Wrestling (WCW) pay-per-view of the same name, but is not a continuation of that chronology, as that library of events is owned by WWE. The event was replaced by Beach Break in 2021.

    The AEW TNT Championship is a men's professional wrestling television championship created and promoted by the American promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Established on March 30, 2020, it is named after the TNT television network, which currently airs AEW's weekly programs, Collision and Rampage, as well as the promotion's Battle of the Belts quarterly television specials. The inaugural champion was Cody Rhodes. The current champion is Adam Copeland, who is in his second reign. He won the title by defeating previous champion Christian Cage in an "I Quit" match on March 20, 2024, which started on Dynamite and concluded on Rampage.

The two-week event took place at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida and was broadcast on July 1 and 8, 2020. While night 1 aired live, night 2 was pre-recorded on July 2 and aired on July 8.

The two-part event took place on January 6 and 7, 2021, at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida and was broadcast on TNT as special episodes of AEW's weekly television program, Dynamite. Night 1 aired live on January 6, while Night 2 was taped on January 7 and aired on tape delay on January 13. The event was originally supposed to begin on December 30, 2020, and end on January 6, 2021, but was postponed by a week due to the death of AEW wrestler Brodie Lee; the December 30 episode was instead held as a memorial event for Lee.

    AEW Rampage, also known as Friday Night Rampage or simply Rampage, is an American professional wrestling television program produced by the American promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It airs every Friday at 10 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on TNT in the United States, although major sporting events occasionally move it to an earlier or later time slot the same day or the next day as a special Saturday Night Rampage. The two-part event was broadcast on TNT as special episodes of AEW's weekly television programs, Wednesday Night Dynamite and Friday Night Rampage—Dynamite aired live while Rampage aired on tape delay on September 24. Dynamite aired live on TBS while Rampage aired on tape delay on July 29 on TNT. The event expanded upon the previous two years, which were only held as a special episode of Dynamite. For the event's charitable cause, it helped support the non-profit marine wildlife organization, Oceana, as the event was taking place during Shark Week, a major cross-promotional event with AEW broadcast partner Warner Bros.
