George Peter Nairn-Briggs was a Provost then the Dean of Wakefield. [1] He is also the author of several books. [2]
He was born on 5 July 1945 [3] and educated at Slough Technical High School and began his working life in local authority housing after which he was a press officer for MAFF. From 1966 he began to study for the priesthood, firstly at King's College London and then at St Augustine's College, Canterbury. He held curacies at St Laurence, Catford and then St Saviour, Raynes Park. After this he was Vicar of Christ the King, Salfords and then St Peter, St Helier (Bishop Andrewes) in Morden. He was the Bishop of Wakefield’s Advisor for Social Responsibility between 1987 and 1997, [4] and a Canon Residentiary at Wakefield cathedral from 1992. [5] He was then promoted to lead the staff at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, his job title (if not his role) changing in 2000.

Henry Russell Wakefield was an Anglican bishop and author in the first quarter of the 20th century. Born on 1 December 1854 he was educated at Tonbridge School and the University of Bonn. Ordained in 1877 after a period at Ripon College Cuddesdon, following two London curacies he was Incumbent at several parishes before senior posts as Prebendary of St Paul's Cathedral, Dean of Norwich and finally Bishop of Birmingham. He was also a member of the London School Board representing the Marylebone Division from 1897-1900 and Mayor of St Marylebone in 1903–1905.

Colin Clement Walter James was an Anglican bishop in the Church of England, successively suffragan Bishop of Basingstoke, then the Bishop of Winchester.

Wakefield Cathedral Church in West Yorkshire, England

Wakefield Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, is a co-equal Anglican cathedral with Bradford and Ripon Cathedrals, in the Diocese of Leeds and a seat of the Bishop of Leeds. Originally the parish church, it has Anglo Saxon origins and, after enlargement and rebuilding, has the tallest spire in Yorkshire. Its 247-foot (75 m) spire is the tallest structure in the City of Wakefield. The cathedral was designated a Grade I listed building on 14 July 1953.

Vivienne Faull British Anglican bishop

Vivienne Frances Faull is a British Anglican bishop and Lord Spiritual. Since 2018, she has served as the Bishop of Bristol. In 1985, she was the first woman to be appointed chaplain to an Oxbridge college. She was later a cathedral dean, and the only female cathedral provost in Church of England history, having served as Provost of Leicester from 2000 to 2002.

Spencer Cecil Carpenter was an Anglican priest and author. He was the Dean of Exeter in the Church of England from 1935 to 1950.

Dean of Wakefield

The Dean of Wakefield is the head and chair of the chapter of canons, the ruling body of Wakefield Cathedral. The dean and chapter are based at the Cathedral Church of All Saints Wakefield. Before 2000 the post was designated as a provost, which was then the equivalent of a dean at most English cathedrals. The cathedral is one of three co-equal mother churches of the Diocese of Leeds and a seat of the Bishop of Leeds. The current dean is Simon Cowling.

Jonathan Greener

Jonathan Desmond Francis Greener is a British Anglican priest. He was Dean of Wakefield and presiding dean of the Diocese of Leeds. He became Dean of Exeter on 26 November 2017.

William Henry Taylor was the last provost of Portsmouth Cathedral.

Andrew Peter Nunn is a British Anglican priest. Since 2012, he has been the Dean of Southwark in the Church of England.
