Gharat Ganpati is a 2024 Indian Marathi-language family drama film co-written and directed by Navjyot Narendra Bandiwadekar under the production and distribution of Panorama Studios in association with Navigns Studio. [1] [2] The film stars an ensemble cast with Nikita Dutta, Bhushan Pradhan, Ajinkya Deo, Ashwini Bhave alongside Sanjay Mone, Shubhangi Latkar and Shubhangi Gokhale. [3] Set in Konkan, the film showcases the Gharat family's annual tradition of welcoming Gauri Ganpati, highlighting how this cherished practice spans three generations and brings the family closer together by navigating generational differences and strengthening their bonds. Production

Director Navjyot Bandiwadekar announced the film in November 2022 on his Instagram, sharing a photo of himself with Dutta and Pradhan. [12] Additionally, a more than one-minute-long title and cast announcement video was released on YouTube. [13] [14] The film's story is written by Alok Sutar and Navjyot Bandiwadekar, with the screenplay by Bandiwadekar, Sutar, and Vaibhav Chinchalkar. [3] Dialogues are by Chinchalkar and Chaitanya Saindane. [15] [16]

Bhave and Deo reunited after over twenty years, having last appeared together in the successful 1998 political thriller film Sarkarnama. [17] [18] This film also marks Dutta's debut in Marathi cinema. [19] [20] Bandiwadekar mentioned that casting for the film was challenging due to bringing together such prominent names from the industry. [21] Principal photography began in the first week of December 2022 and concluded in June 2023. [22] [23] The team celebrated with a grand wrap-up party attended by numerous notable celebrities from the Marathi industry. [24] [25]

Soundtrack

The songs and background music for the film were composed by Sanket Sane, with lyrics written by Sameer Samant, Alok Sutar, and Shradha Sunket Dalvi. Javed Ali and Vishal Dadlani have also lent their voices to one of the songs in the film. [26] [27] On 19 September 2023, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Bandiwadekar posted a video on his Instagram showcasing Ganesha along with a background song sung by Ali. [28]

Release

On 30 April 2024, the release date was announced with a poster featuring the entire cast. [29] The very next day, the makers released the first teaser introducing the film's star cast. [30] [31] On 21 June 2024, the first song titled "Maza Konkan Bhari" was released under the label of Panorama Music. [32] The teaser launch event, attended by the cast and crew, occurred on 24 June.
