The Superior Court of California, County of Glenn, also known as the Glenn County Superior Court or Glenn Superior Court, is the branch of the California superior court with jurisdiction over Glenn County.
Glenn County was formed in 1891, partitioned from neighboring Colusa County. [2]
The Glenn County Courthouse was completed in 1894 for the county seat in Willows; after the dome was damaged by an earthquake, it was removed in 1951. [3] [4] [5] The dome was added at the request of county supervisors, who were concerned about rumors the contractor would go bankrupt before finishing the buildings. [6] The courthouse was designed by John Curtis, who also designed the Placer County Courthouse. An annex was added in 1968, designed by Alvin Fingado and George T. Kern. [7] [8]
Because of the small population of the county, the superior court has two judges and one child support commissioner (under Assembly Bill 1058). [3] [9] After Hon. Peter Billiou Twede retired in 2018, Governor Jerry Brown appointed Hon. Alicia Ekland to the bench; she is the first female judge to serve Glenn County. [10]
Construction started in December 2018 for a two-story annex behind the existing historic courthouse in Willows, replacing three single-story additions built in the 1940s. The existing courthouse has 15,798 ft (4,815 m) of space; when the new annex is complete, that will expand to 41,867 sq ft (3,889.6 m2) and the Orland Branch will close, consolidating court operations in Willows. During construction, operations in Willows were moved temporarily to the Willows Memorial Hall. [11]
Aside from the main courthouse in Willows, the superior court operates a branch courthouse in Orland, the county's largest city.
State Route 57 (SR 57), also known as the Orange Freeway for most of its length, is a north–south state highway in the Greater Los Angeles Area of California. It connects the interchange of Interstate 5 (I-5) and SR 22 near downtown Orange, locally known as the Orange Crush, to the Glendora Curve interchange with I-210 and SR 210 in Glendora. The highway provides a route across several spurs of the Peninsular Ranges, linking the Los Angeles Basin with the Pomona Valley and San Gabriel Valley.
State Route 3 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that serves Trinity and Siskiyou counties. It runs from SR 36 north along the shore of Trinity Lake, Fort Jones and Etna. The route then approaches Yreka, intersecting with Interstate 5 (I-5), and turns east to Montague. The road was numbered SR 3 in 1964, and most of it has been part of the state highway system since 1933.
State Route 11 is a state highway in San Diego County, California that is planned to connect SR 905 and SR 125 in Otay Mesa with the proposed U.S.–Mexico border crossing at Otay Mesa East. Planning for the road began in the 1990s, and construction started in 2013. The portion from SR 905 to Enrico Fermi Drive was completed in 2016. There are plans for an interchange at Siempre Viva Road, as well as converting the highway to a toll road once the entire route is completed.
State Route 142, also known as Carbon Canyon Road for most of its length, is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that connects Brea in Orange County with Chino Hills in San Bernardino County. The eastern portion of the route is known as Chino Hills Parkway.
State Route 224 was a state highway in the U.S. state of California that served as a spur route in Santa Barbara County from U.S. Route 101 in Carpinteria to Carpinteria State Beach.
State Route 195 was a state highway in the U.S. state of California, branching westward from SR 111 to SR 86 near the town of Mecca and the Salton Sea. The route formerly extended east to Interstate 10 (I-10) near Joshua Tree National Park as a longer route extending to Blythe and points further east. After the main route was shifted north, the older route remained as an alternate known as Box Canyon Road. The route was designated in the 1964 state highway renumbering, although the Box Canyon Road portion was removed as a state highway in 1972. Following the construction of the SR 86 expressway, SR 195 was curtailed in 2009, and removed entirely in 2014.
State Route 139 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California. Running from SR 36 in Susanville north to Oregon Route 39 at the Oregon state line, it forms part of the shortest route between Reno, Nevada, and Klamath Falls, Oregon. SR 139 cuts through much Modoc National Forest and passes near Antelope Mountain and Tule Lake. North of SR 299 near Canby, the SR 139 was built by the federal government and turned over to the state in about 1940; the remainder was built by a joint highway district of Lassen and Modoc Counties, completed in 1956, and given to the state in 1959.
