GodTube is an online video platform which provides Christian video content. It is owned by Salem Web Network, the internet division of Salem Communications. GodTube includes music videos, comedy, children, animals, sports, news and inspirational clips. [1]
GodTube was launched in the spring of 2007 by founders Christopher Wyatt, Jason Martell, Lloyd Chartrand, [2] and Mike Miller (former Executive Pastor of First Baptist Dallas). [3] Wyatt was once an online student at Dallas Theological Seminary and was also one of CBS's producers for the 1995 Day and Date show. [4]
Wyatt has stated the website is open to all theological viewpoints, including atheists. The terms of use, however, prohibit any content which is "contrary to the evangelization of Jesus Christ and His teachings, or constitutes blasphemy, or is otherwise offensive to our online Christian community". [5]
According to comScore, GodTube was the fastest growing US website for the month of August 2007. [6] According to Quantcast, total monthly site traffic lost 75% of its users, from 2.7 million, to just over 690 thousand by February 2009. [7] [8] In February 2008, the company raised $30,000,000 from GLG Partners, LP, at a valuation of $150,000,000 after 5 months of operation.
In February 2009, GodTube re-launched as Tangle, expanding into a social network. Tangle also included other new features, such as an online Bible and an "interactive prayer wall", and encouraged non-Christians and atheists to participate and share their points of view. [9] By April 2010, GodTube returned as a separate site alongside Tangle.
In May 2010, Salem Communications' Salem Web Network division acquired GodTube and Tangle's parent company Big Jump Media. [10] [11]
On December 1, 2010, Tangle was discontinued. As part of the transition, certain functionality was pointed towards other sites in the Salem network, and videos were migrated back to GodTube accounts.
In May 2019, GodTube unveiled a new logo.[ citation needed ]
Videos can also be watched with the GodTube app on Android 4.1 or newer [12] and iOS 7 or newer. [13] The app was last updated in September 2016 for both platforms. [12]
GodTube manually reviews every video uploaded to its site. [14]
In some cases, GodTube embeds third-party videos (from sites like YouTube, [15] Facebook [16] and Rumble [17] ) instead of hosting them. Some GodTube features, such as view count and favorites, are still available with these embedded videos.
GodTube has a dedicated music section with traditional and contemporary Christian music. It has similarities to YouTube Music and its predecessor Vevo. GodTube's artist directory consists of licensed music channels, with 387 entries as of May 2019. Entries consist of artists and record labels. [18]
GodTube has premiered BarlowGirl's "Sing Me a Love Song" music video [19] and COLMANblue's "Hey (Not Worth the Worry) single [20]
According to a November 2010 Quantcast assessment, the GodTube audience is 60% female and 40% male, with a high percentage of teenagers and baby boomers. Users are widely middle class. [21]
According to Quantcast, there are higher percentages of teenagers, African Americans, college graduates, and middle-class people using GodTube. [22]
Although it was reported in the trade press in May 2008 that they had received $30,000,000 in funding from GLG Partners, former Big Jump Media CEO Jason Illian was quoted by The Dallas Morning News as saying the investment was "actually around $17,000,000". [23]
According to Forbes, GLG's funds under management were deflated 40% after their foray into GodTube. The founders of the hedge fund agreed to surrender their salaries in lieu of a $1 per year probationary stipend. [24]

YTA TV is an American television network which originally launched in February 1985 as a cable channel. Unusual for a network of its type, it has had multiple identities, programming directions, and brandings, along with owners, and after merging with the minor broadcast network America One in 2014, also began to air on free over-the-air television. It is owned by Center Post Media, which also owns Biz Television.

Blip was an American media platform for web series content and also offered a dashboard for producers of original web series to distribute and monetize their productions. The company was founded on May 5, 2005, and it was located in New York City and Los Angeles. It was financed by Bain Capital Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Ambient Sound Investments. Blip's mission statement was "to deliver the best original web series to audiences across multiple platforms." The site showcased a wide variety of dramas, comedies, arts, sports and other shows. Blip was acquired by Maker Studios in 2013 and shut down by them on August 20, 2015.
Flixster was an American social-networking movie website for discovering new movies, learning about movies, and meeting others with similar tastes in movies. It is currently owned by Fandango Media. The formerly independent site, allowed users to view movie trailers as well as learn about new and upcoming movies at the box office. It was originally based in San Francisco and was founded by Joe Greenstein and Saran Chari on January 20, 2006. It was also the former parent company of Rotten Tomatoes from January 2010 to February 17, 2016. On February 17, 2016, Flixster, including Rotten Tomatoes, was acquired by Fandango.
Veoh is an American video-sharing website, launched in September 2005. It was originally launched as a virtual television network application, and then became a video-sharing website in March 2006. During the mid-2000s, it was one of the largest video-sharing websites, though eventually began to be superseded by YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion. In February 2010, the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, until it was saved two months later by the technology company Qlipso Inc. It was later sold to blogging host FC2, Inc, who still own it as of October 2021.

It is designed to allow those in the educational industry, particularly teachers, to share educational resources such as video, audio, documents, photos, groups and blogs. The site contains a mixture of classroom teaching resources and others designed for teacher training. A number of students have also uploaded videos that they have made as part of K-12 and college courses. As of July 2008, the website contained over 26,000 videos. In October 2010, TeacherTube had over a million members and over 400,000 educational videos. It has found favor with educators from institutions where YouTube content is blocked by content filtering systems.
Vevo LLC is an American multinational video hosting service, best known for providing music videos to YouTube. The service is also available as an app on selected smart TVs, digital video recorders, digital media players and streaming television services. The service once offered a consumer mobile and tablet app; however this was shut down in May 2018 to allow the service to focus on its other platforms.

American singer-songwriter Nichole Nordeman has released five studio albums, one live album, four compilation albums, one extended play, one soundtrack album, eighteen singles, and three music videos. In 1998, after winning a contest sponsored by the Gospel Music Association, Nordeman was signed to Star Song Communications and Sparrow Records and began to work on her debut studio album, Wide Eyed. The album was released in September 1998 and entered the Billboard Christian Albums and Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts at number 16 and 29, respectively, both of which marked her chart debut. Wide Eyed spawned four singles, "To Know You," "Who You Are," "I Wish the Same", and "Wide Eyed", and has sold 130,000 copies in the United States. In May 2000, Nordeman released her second studio album, This Mystery, which charted on the Billboard Christian Albums chart at 12. Three singles, "This Mystery," "Fool For You" and "Every Season", were released from This Mystery. Nordeman's third studio album, Woven & Spun, was released in September 2002. The album entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 136 and at the Billboard Christian Albums chart at number five. All three of Woven & Spun's singles, "Holy", "Legacy", and "Even Then", became top forty hits on the Billboard Christian Songs chart. "Holy" spent 10 weeks at number one on the Christian AC radio charts. In May 2003, Nordeman released her first live album, Live at the Door, which was recorded at The Door music venue in Dallas, Texas. In May 2005, she released her fourth studio album, Brave. The album entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 119 and at the Billboard Christian Albums chart at number two, marking Nordeman's career highest charting debut. Its lead single and title track became her first Billboard number one hit on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, while its two succeeding singles, "What If" and "Real to Me", became top twenty hits on the chart.
