The governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast is the head of state administration for the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
The office of governor is an appointed position, with officeholders being appointed by the president of Ukraine, on recommendation from the prime minister of Ukraine, to serve a four-year term.
The official residence for the governor is located in Zaporizhzhia.
Presidential elections were held in Ukraine on 31 October 1999, with a second round on 14 November. The result was a victory for Leonid Kuchma, who defeated Petro Symonenko in the run-off.
The governor of Donetsk Oblast is the head of executive branch for the Donetsk Oblast. Oleksandr Vasylyovych Starukh is a Ukrainian historian and politician. On 18 December 2020 he was appointed as Governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. He had previously been Governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast from 2008 to 2010. On 24 January 2023, he was removed from his position as Governor.
