Gunner Duvall Stockton is an American football quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Stockton was born in Tiger, Georgia. [1] He began playing quarterback for his youth football team at age six. [2] He attended Rabun County High School and played baseball and football; he was a two-time baseball All-American but was best in football. [3] As a freshman, Stockton earned the football team's starting quarterback job and led them to a region championship and state playoff quarterfinals appearance. [4] That season, he threw for 2,917 yards and 34 touchdowns to only six interceptions while completing 65 percent of his passes, additionally running for 709 yards and 17 touchdowns with an average of 6.8 yards-per-carry. [4] He was named the Football Player of the Year by newspaper Now Habersham for his performance. [4]
Stockton became highly recruited and was invited to the 2022 All-American Bowl after his freshman season. [5] [6] As a sophomore in 2019, he threw for 3,472 yards and 43 touchdowns while running for 1,179 yards and 16 scores. [7] He became a five-star recruit for the Class of 2022 and was ranked the best dual-threat quarterback nationally 247Sports. [7] Prior to the 2020 season, Stockton's junior year, he committed to play college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks over the Georgia Bulldogs. [8] In 2020, he threw for 3,128 yards and 45 touchdowns and ran for 1,581 yards and a further 26 touchdowns, helping Rabun County reach the state playoff semifinals with a 12–2 record. [3] [9]
After South Carolina dismissed coaches Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo, Stockton flipped his commitment to Georgia. [10] As a senior in 2021, he led them to the state playoff quarterfinals again with a 12–2 record while throwing for 4,134 yards, 55 touchdowns and only one interception, being named All-State for the fourth time in his career and being named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year. [3] [11] He set the state records in passing touchdowns, total passing and rushing touchdowns and combined passing and rushing yards. [11] He totaled 13,562 passing yards and 177 passing touchdowns at Rabun County while also running for 4,372 yards and 77 touchdowns in his career. [3]
Stockton enrolled early at Georgia in January 2022. [3] [12] [13] He redshirted as a true freshman in 2022, completing one pass for nine yards in the annual G-Day intrasquad game. [3] He was a member of their 2022 national championship team. [14] In the 2023 G-Day game, he completed 13-of-22 pass attempts for 144 yards, no touchdown and an interception while running for one score. [15] He battled Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff for a starting role in the 2023 season, with Beck winning and Stockton being the third-string behind Vandagriff. [16] [14] He made his collegiate debut in a win over the UT Martin Skyhawks, completing three-of-five passes for 29 yards. [3] [17] Stockton saw further action in games against Ball State and UAB, ending the year with six completions on nine attempts for 52 yards with an interception. [18]
Donald Eugene "D. J." Shockley is an American sports anchor and former football player who was a quarterback. He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL draft and served as a backup quarterback for four and a half years, but never played in a regular season or postseason game. He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs.
John Matthew Stafford is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia and was selected first overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL draft. Ranking in the top 12 of all-time in pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns, Stafford is currently fifth all-time in passing yards per game and is the fastest player in NFL history to have reached 40,000 career passing yards.

Hutson Taylor Mason is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Georgia and was the Bulldogs starting quarterback in 2014. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins in 2015.
Jacob Henry Eason is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Washington and Georgia and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
William Jacob Fromm is an American football quarterback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He started two games with the New York Giants in 2021.
Samuel George Ehlinger is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played high school football at Westlake in Austin, Texas, where he broke various school records held by Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Drew Brees and Nick Foles, before committing to play college football at Texas. As a freshman there, Ehlinger split playing time with quarterback Shane Buechele before taking over as the starter in 2018, where he led the team to the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game and two bowl games. He was selected by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jonathan Tyler Daniels is an American former college football quarterback who played for the USC Trojans and the Georgia Bulldogs, where he won the CFP national championship as a backup to Stetson Bennett. He then transferred to the West Virginia Mountaineers, and finally played for the Rice Owls.
Justin Skyler Fields is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). Following a stint with the Georgia Bulldogs, he played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. With the Buckeyes, Fields was twice named the Graham–George Offensive Player of the Year and reached the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Samuel Duke Howell is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at North Carolina, setting school records for most touchdown passes in a single season (38) as well as career passing yards (10,283) and touchdown passes (92).

Bennett transferred back to Georgia where he won consecutive national championships in 2021 and 2022, joining A. J. McCarron and Tommie Frazier as the only quarterbacks to win consecutive NCAA national championships.

He played college football at Ohio State, where he holds several school records, including most passing yards in a single game with 573, as well as being the first player to throw for six touchdowns three times. Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2021 and 2022 and was selected by the Texans second overall in the 2023 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he led the Texans to a division title and playoff victory en route to winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
