The lake lies just inside Hardangervidda National Park on the vast Hardangervidda plateau. The northern part of the lake is accessible by road.

Skaupsjøen is a lake in the municipalities of Eidfjord in Vestland county and Nore og Uvdal in Buskerud county, Norway. The 2.88-square-kilometre (1.11 sq mi) lake lies just north of the Hardangervidda National Park on the vast Hardangervidda plateau. The lake outflows to the river Skaupa, which flows into the larger lake Halnefjorden to the northeast. The nearest road access is the Norwegian National Road 7, which passes about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northwest of the lake.

Holderen is a lake on the border between Sweden and Norway. The 1.83-square-kilometre (0.71 sq mi) Norwegian part is located inside Blåfjella–Skjækerfjella National Park in the municipality of Snåsa in Trøndelag county. Prestesteinsvatnet is a lake in Luster Municipality in Vestland county, Norway, with a small part of the lake crossing over into the neighboring Lom Municipality in Innlandet county. The 4.12-square-kilometre (1,020-acre) lake sits at an elevation of 1,357 metres (4,452 ft) above sea level. It lies along the south side of the Sognefjellsvegen road, just to the north of the mountain Fannaråki and the Fannaråkbreen glacier. The lake sits just outside the borders of Jotunheimen National Park. The village of Skjolden lies about 20 kilometres (12 mi) to the southwest of the lake.

Gavdnjajávri is a lake in Guovdageainnu Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 3.91-square-kilometre (1.51 sq mi) lake lies on the Finnmarksvidda plateau inside Anárjohka National Park, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of the Norway-Finland border.

Rostojávri (Northern Sami), Råstojaure (Swedish), or Storrostavatnet (Norwegian) is a lake on the border between Norway and Sweden. The Norwegian part of the lake (smaller) is located in Målselv Municipality in Troms county and the Swedish part of the lake (larger) is located in Kiruna Municipality in Norrbotten County. The Norwegian part of the lake lies inside Øvre Dividal National Park. The lake lies at an elevation of 680 metres (2,230 ft) and covers a total area of 34.24 square kilometres (13.22 sq mi); with 3.67 square kilometres (1.42 sq mi) located in Norway and the remaining 30.57 square kilometres (11.80 sq mi) are located in Sweden.

Reinheimen National Park is a national park in Norway that was established in 2006. The park consists of a 1,969-square-kilometre (760 sq mi) continuous protected mountain area. It is located in Møre og Romsdal and Innlandet counties in Norway. The park includes parts of the municipalities of Lesja, Skjåk, Vågå, Lom, Fjord, and Rauma. The park consists of much of the Tafjordfjella mountain range as well as the reindeer habitat in the northern part of the Ottadalen valley.
