Abronhill High School was a non-denominational, comprehensive, secondary school in Abronhill, a suburb of the Scottish new town of Cumbernauld. The school roll was 473 pupils in January 2009. The school was the setting of the 1981 Scottish film Gregory's Girl. Abronhill High School was located near Abronhill Shopping Centre. It closed in June 2014.
Forrestfield is a small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A89 road, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Caldercruix and 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) west of Blackridge. Until 1956 the settlement had a railway station on the former Bathgate and Coatbridge Railway. This line reopened in 2010 as the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link, although Forrestfield station was not reopened. Cairneyhill Quarry, a whinstone quarry operated by Tarmac, lies 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) to the south of Forrestfield.

St. Catherine's Well or Kate's Well is a historical natural spring well of significant interest and sits on holy ground, at the foot of Kirk O' Shott's Parish Church, otherwise known as (Shottskirk) in the village of Salsburgh, North Lanarkshire. The well dates back to the 15th century, and derives from the church's former past when it was once a Catholic place of worship as St. Catherines Chapel, which has origins from Catherine of Sienna.
The Lindsay Institute is a Category B listed building in Lanark, Scotland, which was opened by Sheriff Scott Moncrieff on 25 June 1914 with a free reading room, library and museum. The building is still in use today and houses the Lanark Library, which is run by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture.
