Harrison is an unincorporated community located in the town of Harrison, Lincoln County, Wisconsin, United States. [1]
A post office was first established under the name Harrison in 1888. [2] The community was named for Benjamin Harrison, who won the 1888 presidential election and served as 23rd president of the United States. [3]
Elmhurst is an unincorporated community in Langlade County, Wisconsin, United States. It is in the town of Rolling at latitude 45°3'30" North, longitude 89°11'3" West. The community is located near the headwaters of the Middle Branch Embarrass River, approximately 1½ miles west of the junction of WIS 47, WIS 52 and U.S. Highway 45 in the Town of Rolling. A track of the Chicago and North Western Railway runs along the west side of the community. Elmhurst is located at 1,476 feet (450 m) above sea level.
William Freeman Vilas was an American lawyer, politician, and United States Senator. In the U.S. Senate, he represented the state of Wisconsin for one term, from 1891 to 1897. As a prominent Bourbon Democrat, he was also a member of the cabinet of U.S. President Grover Cleveland, serving as the 33rd Postmaster General and the 17th Secretary of the Interior.
