The Helsinki Cup is an international youth football tournament, held each year in Helsinki, Finland during June/July. It was held for the first time in 1976.

Helsinki is the capital and most populous city of Finland. Located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, it is the seat of the region of Uusimaa in southern Finland, and has a population of 650,058. Finland, officially the Republic of Finland is a country in Northern Europe bordering the Baltic Sea, Gulf of Bothnia, and Gulf of Finland, between Norway to the north, Sweden to the northwest, and Russia to the east. Finland is a Nordic country and is situated in the geographical region of Fennoscandia. The capital and largest city is Helsinki. Other major cities are Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Oulu and Turku.

The 75th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), also known as Worldcon 75, was held 9–13 August 2017 at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre in Helsinki, Finland. This location was selected in August 2015 by the members of the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention in Spokane, Washington.

The 2018 European Junior Swimming Championships were held from 4 to 8 July 2018 in Helsinki, Finland. The Championships were organized by LEN, the European Swimming League, and were held in a 50-meter pool. Per LEN rules, competitors have age 15 or 16 for girls and 17 or 18 for boys.
