I Am Kathalan [1] is an upcoming Malayalam-language drama thriller film directed by Girish A. D. and produced by Dr. Paul Varghese and Krishnamoorthy under the banner of Dr. Paul Entertainment, with co-production by Tinu Thomas. The screenplay of the film was written by Sajin Cherukayil. Development

This film marks Girish A. D.'s fourth directorial project. [4] On November 24, 2022, he revealed his collaboration with Naslen K. Gafoor and writer Sajin Cherukayil with a title poster. Produced by Dr. Paul Varghese and Krishnamoorthy under the banner of Dr. Paul Entertainment, the film is also co-produced by Tinu Thomas. Renowned cinematographer Sharan Velayudhan, known for Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum and Ambili, will handle the cinematography, while the editing will be overseen by the prominent Akash Joseph Varghese. Casting

Following the success of Premalu, Naslen K. Gafoor reunited with Girish A. D. for their next project. The team has announced that Lijomol Jose, Dileesh Pothan, and Anshima Anilkumar will join the cast, with Anshima Anilkumar, known for Poovan, taking on the female lead role. The film will also feature Sajin Cherukayil, Vineeth Vasudevan, Vineeth Viswam, Arshad Ali, and Arshad in key roles. Additionally, the director revealed that the movie will introduce some new faces. Filming

The Principal photography commenced on November 9, 2022, with a puja ceremony. The shoot spanned more than 35 days, concluding on December 20, 2022. Filming occurred in and around Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, Kerala. [7]

Marketing

The first look poster of the film was released on October 6, 2023, featuring the tagline "On the Internet nobody knows you're a dog." The cast was later revealed through social media posts. [8] Promotions for the film began in early June, but the trailer has yet to be released. Director Girish A. D. announced through his social media handles that I Am Kathalan will be hitting theaters this August. [9]

Music

The music and original background score [10] for this film were composed by Sidhartha Pradeep, who is known for his work onManhole and Kho Kho. The music rights of the film were bagged by 123 Musix.

Release

The film is now in the middle of its promotional campaign [11] and is expected to be released in August 2024. [12]
