Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS) is a coal-based thermal power plant located near Jharsuguda town in Jharsuguda district in the Indian state of Odisha. The power plant is operated by the state owned Orissa Power Generation Corporation.
The coal for the plant is sourced from Ib Valley Coalfield. Water is sourced from reservoir of Hirakud Dam.
Its installed capacity is of 1740 MW (2x210 + 2x660). The commissioning of two more units of capacity 1320 MW (2x660) at the same location was completed in August 2019 to the existing plant for which the Engineering, procurement and construction contract was given to BHEL.

NLC India Limited (NLC) is a 'Navratna' government of India company in the fossil fuel mining sector in India and thermal power generation. It annually produces about 30 million tonnes of Lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state. The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3640 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Lately, it has diversified into renewable energy production and installed 1404 MW solar power plant to produce electricity from photovoltaic (PV) cells and 51 MW electricity from windmills.

It owns and operates four units of power plant- 2 units of 210 MW each and 2 units of 660 MW each totalling a generation capacity of 1740 MW of power at Ib Thermal Power Station (ITPS), Banharpali in Jharsuguda District of Odisha.The generation from these units is committed to GRIDCO on the basis of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.
Kanti Thermal Power Station also known as George Fernandes Thermal Power Plant Station is located in Kanti, Muzaffarpur, 90 km from Patna, the capital of the Indian state of Bihar. It is wholly owned subsidiary company of NTPC. The share of the company is 100% of the NTPC. The plant was not functional between 2003 and 2013; however, renovation of both older units paved the way for commercial production of electricity by the end of 2013.
