NLC India Limited (NLC) is a Indian government corporation in the fossil fuel mining sector in India and thermal power generation under the ownership of Ministry of Coal, Government of India. It annually produces about 30 million tonnes of Lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state. The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3640 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Lately, it has diversified into renewable energy production and installed 1404 MW solar power plant to produce electricity from photovoltaic (PV) cells and 51 MW electricity from windmills.

Bandel Thermal Power Station is a coal-based power plant situated on the western bank of Hooghly River at Tribeni, a neighbourhood in Bansberia, near Bandel, in the Indian state of West Bengal, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) off the Grand Trunk Road/ NH 19. Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project is a coal-based thermal power plant located at Sivanpur village in Nabinagar taluk in Aurangabad district, Bihar. It was conceptualised in 1989 by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Satyendra Narayan Sinha who sent the proposal to set up a NTPC's super thermal power project at Nabinagar in Bihar's Aurangabad district to then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi; but the project went into limbo as the following state governments failed to follow it.
