Idham Azis (born 30 January 1963) is an Indonesian police general. He was the Chief of the Indonesian National Police,having served from November 2019 until January 2021. Originating from Kendari,he began his career in the police force in 1988,and participated in several counter-terrorism operations before holding several high-ranking posts as the Chief of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police and the Criminal Investigation Agency.
Azis was born on 30 January 1963 in the Kampung Salo neighborhood of Kendari,Southeast Sulawesi as the second child of five,and he completed the first twelve years of his education in Kendari's state schools before attempting to enroll in the Police Academy. [1] He was rejected the first time,and he enrolled in the Faculty of Agriculture at the Haluoleo University,but he reapplied to the Police Academy,and he was accepted at his third application. [2] He graduated from the academy as part of the class of 1988. [3]
He began his career as a police officer in the Bandung City Police,where he held several posts and positions until 1999 when he was moved to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. [1] By 2004,he was deputy chief police officer for West Jakarta,and later was reassigned to Central Sulawesi. [4] In 2005,he joined Densus 88 and soon afterwards took part in a counter-terrorism police raid which resulted in the death of Azahari Husin. He was given a special promotion for his part. [4] He also investigated the 2005 beheadings of three Christian girls in Poso. [1]
Afterwards,he held several more posts in the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim),rejoining the Jakarta Police and becoming the Chief of Police for West Jakarta in 2008. [4] In 2010,he was deputy chief of the Densus,with Tito Karnavian as the chief. He was promoted to police brigadier general after the conclusion of his time as deputy chief,when he was again moved to Bareskrim. [1] He was the Chief of Police in Central Sulawesi for some time,among other positions,before he was appointed to be Chief of Jakarta Police in 2017. [4] On 22 January 2019,he was appointed as Chief of Bareskrim,with his rank at that time being an inspector general (two-star). [5]
Following the appointment of Tito as the Minister of Home Affairs,Azis was appointed and sworn in as Chief of National Police on 1 November 2019. As part of his appointment,he was promoted to a four-star police general. [6]

Police-General Badrodin Haiti was the Chief of the Indonesian National Police from 16 January 2015 until 13 July 2016,succeeding,Police-General Sutarman. On 16 January 2015 Badrodin was appointed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo to be the Acting Chief of Indonesian National Police replacing Sutarman,who officially retired from the service and awaiting for elected Police Chief Police-Commissioner General Budi Gunawan who was a suspect on a corruption case. On 16 April 2015,he was confirmed unanimously by Indonesian House of Representatives and sworn in by President Joko Widodo on 17 April 2015. He was replaced by Police-General Tito Karnavian.
Muhammad Tito Karnavian is an Indonesian retired police officer who is currently serving as Minister of Home Affairs since 2019. Previously,he served as chief of the Indonesian National Police from 2016 to 2019 and chief of the National Counter Terrorism Agency in 2016.

A terrorist attack occurred on November 13,2016 when a man named Juhanda detonated a Molotov bomb in front of Oikumene Church in Samarinda Seberang,Samarinda,East Kalimantan,Indonesia,where children were playing. A toddler was killed in the incident and three other toddlers were injured. In September 2017,Juhanda and four others were convicted of the attack,with Juhanda sentenced to life imprisonment,while the others received sentences ranging from six to seven years.
Khofifah Indar Parawansa is an Indonesian politician who is the current Governor of East Java. Previously she served as the 27th Minister of Social Affairs. She resigned from the position in January 2018 in order to run in the East Java gubernatorial election.
On 24 May 2017,two explosions occurred at a bus terminal in Kampung Melayu,East Jakarta. Police confirmed that the explosions were caused by multiple explosive devices found in the toilet and in another part of the terminal. The bombings killed five people:three policemen and two attackers. The 11 injured people were taken to multiple hospitals across the Eastern Jakarta area.
Criminal Investigation Agency is one of central executive agencies of Indonesian Police Force. Bareskrim is led by Kepala Bareskrim / Kabareskrim,a three-star general in Indonesian National Police. Bareskrim conducts inquiries into a variety of criminal offences,initiates criminal investigations,identifies suspects,makes arrests,and is in charge of forensic laboratory. The 2018 Surabaya bombings were a series of terrorist attacks that initially occurred on 13 May 2018 in three churches in Surabaya,the second largest city in Indonesia and the capital of East Java province. The explosions occurred at Immaculate Saint Mary Catholic Church on Ngagel Madya Street;Indonesia Christian Church on Diponegoro Street;and Surabaya Central Pentecost Church on Arjuno Street.
