The Inter Services Selection Board (colloquially known as ISSB) [4] is a military organization for the selection of candidates [5] [6] [7] in the Bangladesh Armed Forces: the army, [8] [9] [10] the navy, [11] and the air force. [12] It was formed in 1976. [13] [14] [15]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">President Guard Regiment</span> Military unit

The President Guard Regiment is a cavalry regiment of Bangladesh Army under the Executive Office of the President of Bangladesh. It is located at Dhaka Cantonment, Banga Bhaban and Ganabhaban. It provides military support for all security functions; including presidential travel, general medical support, emergency medical services, and hospitality services. The PGR is headed by the Military Secretary to the President and the Commander, President Guard Regiment. The regiment was created by President Ziaur Rahman in 1976. It was originally designated as the Presidential Security Force. The PSF was restructured and upgraded to full regimental status by military ruler Hussain Muhammad Ershad in 1982 and the new title of President Guard Regiment was adopted.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) is an ongoing tribunal in Bangladesh that aims to investigate and administer justice regarding the war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes against peace committed by Pakistan army and their local collaborators Razakar, Al-Badr, Al-Shams during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. In 2008's public election, one of the principal electoral manifestos of the Awami League was to initiate the trial process of war criminals. As promised, a member of parliament from Awami League submitted the proposal of the trial of war criminals on 29 January 2009 in National Parliament and the proposal was accepted unanimously. Finally after 39 years of Liberation of Bangladesh, on 25 March, the tribunal, attorney panel and investigation organization was formed for the trial of the ones accused of war crimes.

M Sakhawat Hussain is a Bangladeshi author and researcher. He was the Election Commissioner of Bangladesh from 2007 to 2012 and retired from the Bangladesh Army as a brigadier general. He wrote more than 32 books, and serves as a columnist and freelance commentator on national and international television as a security and defense analyst. Before joining the interim government, he was the Senior Fellow at South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) at North South University. He has been serving as an adviser to the 2024 Bangladesh interim government of Bangladesh since August 2024.

Benazir Ahmed is a retired Bangladeshi police officer who served as the 28th inspector general of the Bangladesh Police. Prior to his appointment as IGP, he served as the director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from January 2015 to April 2020. He is currently on a US sanctions list due to RAB's alleged role in forcibly disappearing citizens since December 2021.

Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman is a Bangladesh Army major general. In his long career he was the chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board. He was also appointed as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lebanon by the government of Bangladesh.

Mohammad Saiful Alam is a retired lieutenant general in the Bangladesh Army. His last posting was as the ambassador at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Earlier, he was the Commandant of National Defence College, Bangladesh. He served as the Quarter Master General (QMG) of the Bangladesh Army in Army Headquarters. He was one of the former director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). He also served as general officer commanding (GOC), 11 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Bogura Area.

Mizanur Rahman Shamim is a Lieutenant General in the Bangladesh Army and incumbent Chief of General Staff (CGS) at army headquarters. Prior to join CGS, he was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the, Armed Forces Division. He had served as General Officer commanding (GOC) of the 9th Infantry Division and Area Commander of the Savar Area.

Muhammad Mahbub-ul Alam is a Major General of Bangladesh Army and the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals. Prior to Joining BUP, he served as Principal of Adamjee Cantonment College. Before that, he served as ADG of Bangladesh Border Guard.

Akhaura–Agartala line is a railway line between Bangladesh and India. The railway line is a pivotal achievement for both countries. It has several benefits including, boosting tourism in the North East of India, reducing travel time from Kolkata-Agartala from 38 hours to a mere 10 hours by rail, reducing cost of cargo transport to and from Bangladesh and the North East of India, improving bilateral relations and more. It is expected to also act as a gateway to other NE Indian states such as Assam, southern Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
