The journal was established in 1963 and was originally published on a quarterly basis by Pergamon Press. The founding editor-in-chief was Elsie Stevenson (University of Edinburgh). [2] She was succeeded in 1968 by K. J. W. Wilson (University of Edinburgh, later University of Birmingham). Wilson stepped down in 1982 and was replaced by Rosemary Crow (Northwick Park Hospital) and Caroline Cox (University of London). [3] Cox stepped down in 1992, [4] and Crow (then at the University of Surrey), remained as sole editor-in-chief for a further eight years, a total of 18 years making her the longest-serving editor to date. From 2000 to 2004, Jenifer Wilson-Barnett (King's College London) was editor. [5] [6] She was succeeded in 2005 by the present editor Ian Norman.

Medical Hypotheses is a not-conventionally-peer-reviewed medical journal published by Elsevier. The Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) is a classification system which describes patient outcomes sensitive to nursing intervention. The NOC is a system to evaluate the effects of nursing care as a part of the nursing process. The NOC contains 330 outcomes, and each with a label, a definition, and a set of indicators and measures to determine achievement of the nursing outcome and are included The terminology is an American Nurses' Association-recognized terminology, is included in the UMLS, and is HL7 registered.

Nursing Studies is an academic unit within the School of Health in Social Science at University of Edinburgh. A teaching unit was established in 1956, the first to be part of a British university. The unit's initial focus was on education for nursing teachers and leaders. In 1960 it offered the first degree courses in nursing in the UK. It became a department of the university in 1965 and six years later gained a Chair of Nursing Studies, which was the first to be established in Europe. The unit also had a Nursing Research Unit, which opened in 1971 and ran for more than twenty years. The unit continues to offer nurse education at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels.

Roger Watson is a British academic. He is Academic Dean in the School of Nursing, Southwest Medical University, China and Professor of Nursing, Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Hong Kong. Until 2022 was the Professor of Nursing at the University of Hull. He is the editor-in-chief of Nurse Education in Practice and an Editorial Board Member of the WikiJournal of Medicine. Watson was the Founding Chair of the Lancet Commission on Nursing, and a founding member of the Global Advisory Group for the Future of Nursing. Watson was elected Vice President of the National Conference of University Professors in 2020 and became President in 2022 until 2024.

Nursing Outlook is a bimonthly peer-reviewed nursing journal covering nursing practice, education, and research. It is published by Elsevier. The journal was established in 1994, with as its founding editor-in-chief Carole A. Anderson. It is the official journal of the American Academy of Nursing and its current editor-in-chief is Marion E. Broome.

The Journal of Pediatric Nursing is a peer-reviewed nursing journal publishing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, theory, and research papers on a variety of pediatric nursing topics, covering the life span from birth to adolescence. It is published by Elsevier.

The Edinburgh Feeding Evaluation in Dementia (EdFED) Scale is a psychometric screening tool to assess difficulty with self-feeding in older people with dementia. It was developed at The University of Edinburgh by Roger Watson and Ian Deary.

Merle Elecia Parkes is a pioneer nurse educator who spent the bulk of her extensive career championing quality education for nurses in Australia. Parkes was eventually instrumental in affecting change from solely hospital-only training, to formal nursing degrees within tertiary institutions. In 1979, under Parkes's guidance, the Western Australian Institute of Technology became the first Australian tertiary institution to receive approval for a nursing degree program, which catalysed a National shift from hospital-based training to university-based education for the nursing profession.

Computers & Graphics is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that covers computer graphics and related subjects such as data visualization, human-computer interaction, virtual reality, and augmented reality. It was established in 1975 and originally published by Pergamon Press. It is now published by Elsevier, which acquired Pergamon Press in 1991. From 2018 to 2022 Graphics and Visual Computing was an open access sister journal sharing the same editorial team and double-blind peer-review policies. It has since merged into GMOD, the International Journal of Graphical Models.
