Ioana Mihalache (born December 28, 1990) is a Romanian actress, model, economist and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Romania 2017. [1] She represented Romania at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant. [2] [3]

Mihalache was born in Constanța, Romania.

Education

Mihalache graduated from Ovidius University in Constanţa with a degree in economics and a master's degree in European Regional Development Policies. In addition to her native Romanian, Mihalache speaks three other languages: English, Spanish and Italian. [4]

Career

Mihalache's modeling career started at 15. As an international model, Mihalache has participated in fashion shows in, among other countries, the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Turkey, Lebanon, China, and the United Arab Emirates. [5] [6]

Miss Universe Romania 2012

Mihalache was declared third runner-up at Miss Universe Romania 2012. [7]

Miss World Romania 2013

Mihalache was also declared first runner up at the Miss World Romania 2013. [8] and went on to represent Romania in Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines. [9]

Mihalache represented Romania at the Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines but unplaced. [10]

Miss Grand International 2016

Mihalache was appointed Miss Grand Romania 2016 and then competed at the Miss Grand International 2016 but was unplaced. [11] [12] [13]

Miss Universe Romania 2017

Mihalache was crowned as Miss Universe Romania 2017 after defeating 23 other contestants competing for the title [14] [15] and would go on to represent Romania in the Miss Universe 2017 international pageant held in Las Vegas. [16]

Românii au talent is a TV show which began airing on 18 February 2011. The project acts as a Romanian version of the franchise Got Talent, developed by Simco Limited. The show is hosted by Smiley and Pavel Bartoș, while the opening judge panel consisted of presenter Andi Moisescu, singer Andra and dancer Mihai Petre; following Petre's exclusion for the fifth season, TV presenter Mihaela Rădulescu and actor Florin Călinescu joined the panel. The winner of "Românii au talent" is awarded with €120,000.

The fourth season of the Romanian reality talent show Vocea României premiered on ProTV on September 16, 2014. Pavel Bartoș returned as host, while Nicoleta Luciu left the show. Oana Tache replaced Vlad Roșca as the social media correspondent. Loredana Groza, Smiley and Marius Moga returned as coaches, while Tudor Chirilă replaced Horia Brenciu as the fourth coach. The show was moved from its usual Saturday evening slot to Friday evening, with the premiere on a Tuesday.

The eight season of the Romanian reality talent show Vocea României premiered on ProTV on September 7, 2018. Pavel Bartoș returned as host, while Irina Fodor replaced Lili Sandu as the social media correspondent. Laura Giurcanu was the vlogger of the show. Tudor Chirilă and Smiley returned as coaches, while Irina Rimes and Andra replaced Loredana Groza and Adrian Despot as coaches.

Romania was scheduled to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, Netherlands before its cancellation due to the pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China and its spread to other countries. Romania's artist, Roxen, was internally selected and announced on 11 February 2020. Their competing entry, "Alcohol You", was chosen during the national selection competition Selecția Națională 2020 on 1 March. Prior to the 2020 contest, Romania had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 20 times since its first entry in 1994. Its highest placing had been third place, which the nation achieved in 2005 and 2010. In 2019, they failed to qualify for the contest's final for the second consecutive year. Prior to the scheduled Eurovision Song Contest 2020, "Alcohol You" was promoted by a lyric video, while Roxen appeared on several native talk shows and radio stations.

The 2021–22 Liga II was the 82nd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contested the league.

The 2021–22 Liga I was the 104th season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season started on 15 July 2021 and ended in May 2022. It was the seventh to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced, and CFR Cluj was four-time defending champion.

Presidential elections will be held in Romania in either mid- or late November 2024, with an eventual second round to be held in late November or early December 2024 as well. They will be the ninth presidential elections held in post-1989 Romania. As the Romanian Constitution allows a maximum of two presidential terms, incumbent President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, first elected in 2014 and then re-elected in 2019, is not eligible for re-election. His second term will normally end in December 2024.

Miss Grand International 2016 was the fourth Miss Grand International pageant, held at the Westgate International Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, on October 25, 2016 the first time the contest was held outside Thailand. Candidates from seventy-four countries and territories competed for the title. At the end of the event Claire Elizabeth Parker, Miss Grand International 2015 of Australia crowned Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia as her successor, making her the first Asian candidate to win the title. Meanwhile, the first to fourth vice-miss titles was awarded to the representatives of the Philippines, Thailand, Puerto Rico, and the United States, respectively.

The title was first awarded in 2013, when Ernest Hadrian Böhm, the director of Exclusive Events International, a Romania-based event organizer, assigned the winner of Miss Earth Moldova 2012, Alyona Chitoroaga, to represent Moldova at the inaugural edition of the mentioned international contest in Thailand; however, she did not obtain any placements in the competition.

Miss Grand Romania is a national female beauty pageant title awarded to Romanian representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. The title was first awarded in 2013 to a Politehnica University of Bucharest graduate, Iuliana Vasile, who then competed at the inaugural edition of Miss Grand International in Thailand but was unplaced.
