The Iran women's national 3x3 team is a national basketball team of Iran, [1] administered by the Islamic Republic of Iran Basketball Federation. [2]

Contents

They competed in the first international tournament in 2017 after appearing in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. [3]

Iran provided one of the upsets of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2019 with a 19-18 victory over No.2 seed Mongolia. It was their only victory in Amsterdam but proved to be a momentous triumph for a team of pioneers whose success has important ramifications in Iran. As of May 2021, they were the No.4 ranked team in Asia. [4]

It became the third city in the former Soviet countries to win the right of hosting an Olympic Council of Asia-sanctioned event, following Astana and Almaty in Kazakhstan, which jointly-hosted the 2011 Asian Winter Games. The host city was chosen in Kuwait on 19 December 2010. On 6 July 2013 the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia was officially handed over to the mayor of the city of Ashgabat.

The 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, officially known as the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and also known as Bangkok–Chonburi 2021, is scheduled to be a pan-Asian multi-sport event in indoor and martial arts sports held from 17 to 26 November 2023 in the Thai capital city, Bangkok and the province of Chonburi. Originally due to take place from 21 to 30 May 2021, the event was postponed in January 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) officially awarded the games to Bangkok and Chonburi Province and signed the hosting rights contract in April 2020.

3x3 basketball was featured in the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games official programme in 2009, and since 2017. The inaugural staging of 3x3 basketball was seen in 2007, as a demonstration sport. The programme includes 2 events. The FIBA and FIBA Asia are the world and continental respectively governing body.

Mariska Halinda is an Indonesian taekwondo practitioner. She is a two-time gold medalist at the Southeast Asian Games.
