Isophrictis tophella is a moth of the family Gelechiidae. It was described by Thomas de Grey, 6th Baron Walsingham, in 1888. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from California, Arizona and New Mexico. [1] [2]

The wingspan is about 23 mm. The forewings are dull ashy brown, with a considerable sprinkling of brighter (more reddish brown) scales. The tips of the scales about the apical margin and cilia are paler and give a speckled appearance to the end of the wing. The hindwings are brownish cinereous. [3]

The Tortricidae are a family of moths, commonly known as tortrix moths or leafroller moths, in the order Lepidoptera. This large family has over 11,000 species described, and is the sole member of the superfamily Tortricoidea, although the genus Heliocosma is sometimes placed within this superfamily. Many of these are economically important pests. Olethreutidae is a junior synonym. The typical resting posture is with the wings folded back, producing a rather rounded profile.
