Jadesola Osiberu is a Nigerian writer, director and producer and founder of Greoh Studios. She is known for Isoken (2017), Sugar Rush (2019), Brotherhood (2022) and Gangs of Lagos , the first Nigerian original film set to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. In September 2022, Osiberu's Greoh Studios signed a three-year deal with Amazon to develop and produce original scripted TV series and feature films. [1]
Born to a royal family in 1985, Osiberu's father, Oba Adewale Osiberu is the Elepe of Epe Sagamu. [2] Osiberu had her secondary education in Ibadan, before obtaining a Computer Systems Engineering degree from University of Manchester. [3] She is also an alumna of Pan-Atlantic University, where she studied Media and Communications. [4]
Despite working professionally as a software developer after graduation, Osiberu decided to change career to film-making. [4] In celebrating the Women's History Month, Pulse included her in its list of ten women making waves by developing content in Nigerian film industry. [5] Osiberu started her production company, Tribe85 Productions in 2017 with the aim of "telling African stories to a global audience". [6] During an interview with BellaNaija, her work ethic, attention to detail and creative drive was praised by the interviewer. [7]
In 2018, she headlined Nollywood Film Festival in Scotland. [8]
In 2017, Osiberu wrote and directed Isoken , a film about the challenges faced by an unmarried female professionals amidst pressure from family, as well as romantic interracial relationships in modern Nigerian setting. For her directorial role, she won best director at 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and got a Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Director nomination. [9]
The film was also the subject of scholarly discussions with the titular character being characterized with traits of feminism. [10] Culture Custodian highlighted how the theme of the film is set up to fight misogyny in the Nigerian patriarchal society. [11]

Ramsey Nouah is a Nigerian actor and director. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010 for his performance in the movie The Figurine. He made his directorial debut with the film Living in Bondage: Breaking Free in 2019 and also went on to direct Nollywood classic Rattle Snake: The Ahanna Story which is a remake of Rattlesnake (1995).
Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele-Bello popularly known as Funke Akindele or Jenifa, is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, actress, politician and producer. Akindele starred in the sitcom I Need to Know from 1998 to 2002, and in 2009, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She rose to fame for her role in the movie titled Jenifa which earned her the nickname Jenifa. The Omo Ghetto trilogy contributed to her fame. Funke Akindele played the lead role in the show Jenifa's Diary, for which she was named the Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 and 2017Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Again, at the 2020 and 2022 AMVCA, she took home the same award, making it her fifth wins for the Best Actress in a Comedy category. Funke Akindele is the most nominated actress at the AMVCA and currently owns five AMVCA which makes her the actress with most win at the AMVCA. Funke is second director to gross over a billion at the box office with movies like Your Excellency, Omo Ghetto: The Saga and most recent Battle on Buka Street. Funke is the only Yoruba-film actress to have won an African Movie Academy Award and Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award.
Kunle Afolayan(listen) is a Nigerian actor, producer and director. He is widely credited for elevating the quality of Nollywood movies through larger budgets, shooting on 35mm, releasing in cinemas, and improving cliché Nollywood storylines. After starting his film career as an actor in the 1999 political drama Saworoide, Afoloayan made his directorial debut in 2006 with Irapada, a Nigerian supernatural thriller, which won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film in an African Language. His follow-on directing credits include The Figurine, Phone Swap, October 1, and Citation. October 1 was the winner of 16 major African movie awards in 2015 and the second highest grossing Nigerian film in Nigerian cinemas at the time of its release, a feat Afolayan was to repeat two years later with The CEO. In 2021, the director signed a three-picture deal with Netflix. Swallow, the screen adaption of Sefi Atta's book of the same name was the first to be released in October 2021, followed by Aníkúlápó, an epic Nigerian fantasy released in September 2022. Afolayan has described the work as a "Game of Thrones recreated in Nigeria but with a better representation of our culture”. Eleven days after its release, it was the #1 most-watched non-English Netflix original film.
