Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard [1] (formerly known as Jhaniele Fowler-Reid or Jhaniele Fowler; born 21 July 1989) is a professional Jamaican netball player who plays for the West Coast Fever in the Suncorp Super Netball League. Fowler-Nembhard is a 5-time Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year [2] and was named Netball Scoop's World's Best Netballer in 2021 [3] .
Fowler-Nemhard played domestic netball in Jamaica for the Waulgrovians club. [4]
In 2011, Fowler-Nembhard was signed to play in the Australasian ANZ Championship with Australian team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on a two-year contract. Her contract was contingent on the Thunderbirds' current import, fellow Jamaican shooter Carla Borrego, on gaining Australian citizenship, and allowing the team's import spot for Fowler. [5] However, Borrego was unable to gain citizenship in time for the 2012 season, and Fowler-Nembhard did not play with the Thunderbirds. She was later approached by New Zealand–based team, the Southern Steel, who signed her on a one-year contract for the 2013 season. [6] At a height of 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in), Fowler-Nembhard was the second-tallest player in the Australasian league, after 2.03 m (6 ft 8 in) Megan Craig (who debuted for the Mystics in 2016). [7]
Fowler-Nembhard returned to the Australian domestic scene in 2018, where she plays for West Coast Fever. She has been the leading goalscorer in the Suncorp Super Netball League every year since 2018 and holds the record for the most goals scored in a season. She was also named Suncorp Super Netball player of the year for 5 consecutive years between 2018 and 2022 [2] . In 2023, Fowler-Nembhard claimed her fifth consecutive Stacey Marinkovich Medal for Best and Fairest after another stellar campaign in which she scored her 5000th Suncorp Super Netball goal of her career [8] .
Fowler-Nembhard has been a member of the Jamaica national netball team (the Sunshine Girls) since 2010.
Fowler-Nembhard has competed at three Fast5 Netball World Series tournaments with the Jamaica national team, winning a bronze medal in 2010.
She has competed at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in Delhi, 2014 in Glasgow, and captained the team in 2018 in Australia and 2022 in Birmingham. In 2022 Fowler-Nembhard was Captain of the Jamaican team that achieved a historic silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Losing to Australia in the final, after defeating New Zealand in the semis and beating Australia for the first time in a Commonwealth Games during the group stage [9] [10] . There also was a match with Barbados that saw over 100 goals recorded by Jhanielle's team. [11]
Fowler-Nemhard competed in the Netball World Cup in 2011 in Singapore and 2015 in Australia. She captained the Sunshine Girls at the Netball World Cups in 2019 [12] in England and 2023 in South Africa. In 2023 Fowler-Nembhard captained Jamaica to win Bronze at the World Cup in South Africa [13] . She scored 302/310 (97.4%) goals during the tournament [14] and was the only Jamaican named in the World Cup team of the Tournament [15] .
Fowler-Nembhard grew up in Montego Bay, moving to St Thomas at 19 years of age [16] . She married Andre Reid in December 2013 when she added Reid to her last name. The couple have a daughter. On 20 December 2023, she married Ashani Nembhard in a private ceremony in Kingston [17]
The Super Netball League is a professional netball league featuring teams from across Australia. It superseded the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, which also included teams from New Zealand, as the top-level netball league in Australia in 2017. Since 2019, the league has been governed on behalf of Netball Australia by an independent commission. Its main sponsor is Suncorp Group. Sunshine Coast Lightning were the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball winners.
Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian professional netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Thunderbirds have won five premierships. They won their first two premierships in 1998 and 1999 during the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era, their third and fourth in 2010 and 2013 during ANZ Championship era, and their fifth in 2023 during the suncorp netball era. Historically, Thunderbirds are one of Australia's most successful netball teams. Between 1997 and 2010 they finished in the top three of every regular season, and are the first and only team to win a Trophy at all 3 eras.
Melbourne Vixens is an Australian professional netball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. Since 2017 they have represented Netball Victoria in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. The team was formed in 2007 when Netball Victoria merged its two former Commonwealth Bank Trophy league teams, Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels. Vixens have won three premierships, in 2009, 2014 and 2020.
West Coast Fever is a professional Australian netball team based in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they competed in the ANZ Championship. Between 1997 and 2007, as Perth Orioles, they competed in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. During the ANZ Championship era, Fever were the only Australian team not to win a title, play in a grand final or feature in a finals series. However, during the Suncorp Super Netball era they emerged as challengers. They were grand finalists in both 2018 and 2020, and eventually claimed their first premiership in 2022.
Ama Agbeze is an England netball international. She was captain when England won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2019 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. As of 2020, Agbeze has played for at least sixteen different club teams in England, Australia and New Zealand.

Geva Kate Mentor CBE is a former England netball international. She has competed for England in six Commonwealth Games. She was a member of the England team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the England teams that won the bronze medal at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. She captained England at the 2015 Netball World Cup.
Dame Noeline Taurua is a New Zealand international netball coach and former representative player. She is currently head coach of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns.
Chelsea Pitman is an Australian-born netball player who represented the England National Netball Team internationally until 18 September 2023. In 2024 she was contracted as a training partner and temporary replacement player for the GIANTS Netball playing in the Suncorp Super Netball competition in Australia and announced her retirement during round 9 from all levels of competition. She predominantly played wing attack, but also played goal attack.
Sunshine Coast Lightning are a professional Australian netball team based at the University of the Sunshine Coast. The team was formed in 2016 as a joint venture between the university and Melbourne Storm. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Lightning have played in three grand finals, winning premierships in 2017 and 2018.
Shamera Sterling-Humphrey is a Jamaican netball player. She plays for Adelaide Thunderbirds in Suncorp Super Netball and was named Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year in 2023.
The 2019 Suncorp Super Netball season was the third season of the premier netball league in Australia. The season began on 27 April and concluded on 15 September 2019, however it was suspended for most of the month of July due to the Netball World Cup, which was played in Liverpool.
Eleanor Cardwell is an English international netball player. She plays in goal attack and goal shooter for England and currently plays for Melbourne Mavericks in the Suncorp Super Netball league.
Francesca Williams is an English international netballer who currently plays for West Coast Fever in Suncorp Super Netball.
The 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season was the fourth season of the premier netball league in Australia. The season was originally scheduled to commence on 2 May, though was delayed to 1 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The defending premiers, New South Wales Swifts were eliminated in the first week of the finals series by the eventual runners-up West Coast Fever. The premiers were the Melbourne Vixens, who defeated the Fever by two goals in the Grand Final at Nissan Arena in Brisbane.
The 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season was the fifth season of the premier netball league in Australia. The season commenced on 1 May and concluded with the Grand Final on 28 August. The defending premiers were the Melbourne Vixens, but they were unsuccessful in making the finals series. The New South Wales Swifts won their second premiership in three years, after defeating Giants Netball 63–59 in the Grand Final.
Malysha Kelly is a Jamaican netball player, who has made over 50 appearances for the national side, and is a former captain. At club level, she most recently played for Severn Stars in the Netball Superleague.

The defending premiers were the New South Wales Swifts, who narrowly missed out on the finals series. The West Coast Fever won their very first premiership in the club's history, after defeating the Melbourne Vixens 70–59 in the Grand Final.
Jamaica competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
The 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season was the seventh season of the premier netball league in Australia. The season commenced on Saturday 18 March and concluded with the Grand Final on Saturday 8 July at John Cain Arena. The defending premiers were the West Coast Fever, who were eliminated in the Preliminary Final by the New South Wales Swifts. The Adelaide Thunderbirds won their first premiership in 10 years, narrowly defeating the New South Wales Swifts 60-59 after an extra time Grand Final thriller. This season was the last season to feature the Collingwood Magpies, who withdrew from the competition at the end of the season due to financial difficulties.
