Hexi Corridor

Hexi Corridor (Chinese: 河西走廊; pinyin: Héxī Zǒuláng; Wade–Giles: Ho2-hsi1 Tsou3-lang2, Xiao'erjing: حْسِ ظِوْلاْ, IPA: /xɤ˧˥ɕi˥ tsoʊ˨˩˦lɑŋ˧˥/) or Gansu Corridor is an important historical route in Gansu province of China. As part of the Northern Silk Road running northwest from the bank of the Yellow River, it was the most important route from North China to the Tarim Basin and Central Asia for traders and the military. The corridor is a string of oases along the northern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. To the south is the high and desolate Tibetan Plateau and to the north, the Gobi Desert and the grasslands of Outer Mongolia. At the west end the route splits in three, going either north of the Tian Shan or south on either side of the Tarim Basin. At the east end are mountains around Lanzhou before one reaches the Wei River valley and China proper.

It is more than 600 km (370 mi) wide from east to west, occupying 191,342 km2 (73,878 sq mi), although its built-up area is mostly located in its Suzhou District. Its population was 962,000 in 2002.

The Lanzhou−Xinjiang railway or Lanxin railway is the longest railway in northwestern China. It runs 1904 kilometres from Lanzhou, Gansu, through the Hexi Corridor, to Ürümqi, in Xinjiang. It was Xinjiang's only rail link with the rest of China until the opening of the Lanzhou–Xinjiang high-speed railway in December 2014. The railway follows the path of the ancient Silk Road.

Jiayuguan Airport is an airport in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, China. It is located 9 kilometers northeast of Jiayuguan and also close to the city of Jiuquan. First built in 1938 for military use, the airport was rebuilt at the current location in 1953 and was formerly called Jiuquan Airport. It was expanded and reopened in August 2006.

Chengguan District, Lanzhou District in Gansu, Peoples Republic of China

Chengguan District is one of 5 districts of the prefecture-level city of Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, China. It is located mostly on the southern side of the Yellow River, and includes the downtown Lanzhou. Both the Gansu provincial government offices and those of the Lanzhou prefecture-level city are located within the district. The Lanzhou Railway Station is also located in this district.

Ejin or Ejina is a banner in the far west of Inner Mongolia, China. It is under the administration of Alxa League and is the westernmost county-level division of Inner Mongolia, bordering Gansu province to the west and the Republic of Mongolia's Bayankhongor and Govi-Altai Provinces. The Jiayuguan–Ceke railway (嘉峪关-策克铁路) or Jiace railway (嘉策铁路) is a railway in northwestern China between Jiayuguan in Gansu Province and Ceke, a border post in Ejin Banner of Inner Mongolia on the China-Mongolian border. The railway is 460 km (286 mi) in length and was built from April 2004 to June 2007, and was financed by the Jiuquan Steel Company for its exclusive use to transport coal from Inner Mongolia and Mongolia. It is the longest railway financed by an enterprise in China. The line connects the Lanzhou-Xinjiang and the Linhe-Ceke railway. Planning is under way for a 50 km (31 mi) extension of the railway into Mongolia's Nariin Sukhait mining complex. In 2011 and 2012, the line carried, respectively, 1.21 and 1.17 million metric tons of coal.

Jiayuguan South railway station

Jiayuguan South railway station is a railway station located in China's Gansu Province, Jiayuguan City. It was put into operation on December 26, 2014. It serves the Lanzhou–Xinjiang High-Speed Railway with High Speed services between Lanzhou and Urumqi and conventional services connecting Urumqi to various cities in Eastern and South Western China. It is the second major railway station serving Jiayuguan, with Jiayuguan railway station, which serves the conventional LanXin Railway.
