The Church of the Nazarene is a Christian denomination that emerged in North America from the 19th-century Wesleyan-Holiness movement within Methodism. It is headquartered in Lenexa,Kansas. With its members commonly referred to as Nazarenes,it is the largest denomination in the world aligned with the Wesleyan-Holiness movement and is a member of the World Methodist Council.
J. Kenneth Grider was a Nazarene Christian theologian and former seminary professor primarily associated with the followers of John Wesley who are part of the Holiness movement.
The Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) is a private,Christian college in Quincy,Massachusetts. Established as a holiness college in Quincy,Massachusetts,in 1900,the college moved to Rhode Island for several years. With its expansion to a four-year curriculum,it relocated to Wollaston Park in 1919. It has expanded to additional sites in Quincy and,since the late 20th century,to satellite sites across the state. Its academic programs are primarily undergraduate,with some professional graduate education offered.
Mildred Olive Bangs Wynkoop was an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene,who served as an educator,missionary,theologian,and the author of several books. Donald Dayton indicates that "Probably most influential for a new generation of Holiness scholars has been the work of Nazarene theologian Mildred Bangs Wynkoop,especially her book A Theology of Love:The Dynamic of Wesleyanism." The Wynkoop Center for Women in Ministry located in Kansas City,Missouri,is named in her honour. The Timothy L. Smith and Mildred Bangs Wynkoop Book Award of the Wesleyan Theological Society also jointly honours her "outstanding scholarly contributions."

Hugh C. Benner (1899–1975) was a minister and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene. He started the history department at the Eastern Nazarene College in 1921,and Benner Hall and Benner Library on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University are named after him. Dr. Benner was born near Marion,Ohio. Dr. Benner was ordained in 1923 by Nazarene General Superintendent Roy T. Williams. After serving the Church as a college professor and later as a pastor at Santa Monica,California;Spokane,Washington;and Kansas City First Church,Dr. Benner was elected the first president of the Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1944. He was elected general superintendent in 1952 and served in this position until retirement in 1968. He was general superintendent emeritus until his death in 1975 in Leawood,Kansas.
Donald Dean Owens is an American general superintendent emeritus in the Church of the Nazarene,and also a retired ordained minister,missionary,professor,and seminary and college president. Owens is the founding president of the forerunner of Korea Nazarene University,and Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in Taytay,Rizal,Philippines (1983–1984),and served as the pioneer missionary for the Church of the Nazarene in the Republic of Korea (1954–1966),and as a missionary for four years in the Philippines (1981–1985),where he was the first Regional Director of both the Asia Region (1981–1985) and the South Pacific Region (1981–1983) of the Church of the Nazarene. Owens was the 2nd President of MidAmerica Nazarene College in Olathe,Kansas,for 4 years from 1985. In June 1989 Owens was elected the 28th General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene,and after being re-elected in 1993,served until his retirement in June 1997.

Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS) is a graduate-level theological institution located near Metro Manila in the Philippines. APNTS is a seminary in the Wesleyan theological tradition and affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene through its Division of World Mission. Olive May Winchester (1879–1947) was an American ordained minister and a pioneer biblical scholar and theologian in the Church of the Nazarene,who was in 1912 the first woman ordained by any trinitarian Christian denomination in the United Kingdom,the first woman admitted into and graduated from the Bachelor of Divinity course at the University of Glasgow,and the first woman to complete a Doctor of Theology degree from the divinity school of Drew University.

The Pentecostal Collegiate Institute was a short-lived co-educational collegiate institute operated initially by the Association of Pentecostal Churches of America at Saratoga Springs,New York from September 1900 to May 1902,and from then by Lyman C. Pettit until its closure in February 1903. It is considered an antecedent institution of the Pentecostal Collegiate Institute and also Eastern Nazarene College.
Floyd Timothy Cunningham is an American historian and ordained minister,who has been a global missionary in the Philippines for the Church of the Nazarene since 1983,who served as the fifth president of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary from July 1,2008,until April 3,2013. Cunningham serves currently as Distinguished Professor of the History of Christianity at APNTS,and is the author of Holiness Abroad:Nazarene Missions in Asia,the editor and co-author of Our Watchword &Song:The Centennial History of the Church of the Nazarene,and the author of dozens of articles in academic journals and magazines. Cunningham is a Life member of the Philippine National Historical Society,a member of the American Society of Church History,the Wesleyan Theological Society,and the American Historical Association since 1980.
E. LeBron Fairbanks is a leadership consultant,an adjunct professor at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary,and a retired American ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene who is President emeritus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University,President emeritus of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary,and who served the Church of the Nazarene as the Education Commissioner from March 2008 to September 2011. Additionally,Fairbanks was an editor in the Church Schools Department of the Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City,Missouri;Academic Dean of European Nazarene Bible College in Busingen,Germany (1978–1982);Associate Professor of Christian Education and Lay Ministry Development,and Coordinator of the Master of Ministry program at Bethany Nazarene College (1982–1984);the 2nd President of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS) in Taytay,Rizal,the Philippines from September 1984 to July 1989;and the 5th President of Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) in Mount Vernon,Ohio,for over 17 years from July 1989 until his retirement on January 31,2007. Fairbanks founded and has served as the director of BoardServe LLC,"a consulting service for governing boards and their leaders",since 2011.
David Busic is an ordained minister and 40th general superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene,the denomination's highest elected office. He was elected on June 25,2013,at the 28th General Assembly and Conventions in Indianapolis,Indiana.
Carla D. Sunberg is an American ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene,administrator,academic,author,speaker and former missionary and registered nurse,who is the 2nd woman elected as a General Superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene,and was the first woman and the 10th person elected as president of Nazarene Theological Seminary. At the time of her election on January 3,2014,Sunberg was co-District Superintendent of the East Ohio District of the Church of the Nazarene,having served in this role since November 1,2011. Dr Sunberg was elected the 43rd General Superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene on the 11th ballot by the delegates of the 29th General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene on June 27,2017. Sunberg is the only daughter of Jerald Johnson,the 24th General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene.
Aubrey Franklin Hess was a progressive American theologian and educator. Born on a mountaintop farm in Virginia,Hess without formal theological training was ordained in the Methodist Protestant church in 1896 and immediately served two small congregations in West Virginia. Later,after completing his formal theological and university education,Hess served as president of the Methodist Protestant institutions of West Lafayette College,Ohio and Adrian College,Michigan.
