Jordan Ramos (born 18 July 1995 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a British sprinter, [1] former British Gymnast, five-times British Tumbling (gymnastics) Champion, a European Silver Medallist, [2] a Guinness World Records Breaker for the longest slam dunk from a trampoline. [3] [4]

Biography

Ramos is the son of Brazilian stuntman "Marcelo The Daredevil" and acrobat and keep-fit instructor Anita Grosvenor Ramos. He is their eldest son, with two younger brothers. He also participates in the family act The Ramos Acrobats alongside his parents and one brother.

Gymnastics

Jordan began training gymnastics and acrobatics with his dad at the age of 2, and by the time he had reached his 10th birthday he became a British Tumbling (gymnastics) Champion.[ citation needed ] Jordan has represented Great Britain in 2 World Junior Championships and 1 European Championship. Ranking top six in two of the World Tumbling (gymnastics) Championships and winning a gold medal at the Loule World Cup in Portugal in 2007. He also went on to win a Silver European medal in France in 2010.

Guinness world record broken

In 2008 he was set a challenge by Sky1 to try to beat the record for the longest slam dunk performed from a trampoline. [5] He rose to the challenge and live on TV at Pinewood Studio, Ramos became the Guinness World Record Breaker. He held onto the record for three years, performing on programs such as Blue Peter, China Central Television [6] and Italian television. In 2011 he entered the Guinness Book of Records. [7]

Wife Swap Controversy

On 29 June, 2009, Ramos, his parents, and brother Samuel appeared on the last series of the British program Wife Swap on Channel 4. [8] In the program the swapping mother was not happy because the thirteen- and five-year-old boys spent over nine hours each week training in trampolining and tumbling. She made the boys stay at home to bake cakes instead of training in gymnastics.

While a member of the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's gymnastics team, Loken was NCAA all-around gymnastics champion in 1942 and the Big Ten Conference all-around champion in 1941 and 1942. He was the coach of the University of Michigan gymnastics team for 36 years from 1948-1983. Loken's gymnasts won the NCAA championships in 1963 and 1970, as well as 12 Big Ten championships. His record as Michigan's gymnastics coach was 250-72-1. Loken also coached the Michigan trampolining team to NCAA championships in 1969 and 1970.

The Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for trampoline gymnastics including double mini trampoline and tumbling. They were originally held annually from 1964–1968. The frequency was switched to biennially from 1970–1998. The admission of trampolining to the Olympic Games required a switch to holding the World Championship as a qualifier in the year before the Olympics from 1999. Since 2010, the World Championships are again held annually, except for Olympic years. This cycle was broken in 2021 when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the delay of the 2020 Summer Olympics by one year.

Dmitri Vladimir "Dima" Poliaroush is a Belarusian gymnastics coach and former competitive trampolinist. He is a six-time World Champion, seven-time European Champion, and twenty-time World Cup winner. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing fifth and fourth respectively. Poliaroush was the first man to perform a “Double Full In – Double Full Out” on trampoline and the skill is named after him. He is the only person who has been an active trampolinist and trampoline coach at the Olympic Games.

Qualification for gymnastics events at the 2012 Summer Olympics was based on the results of the three world gymnastics championships held in autumn 2011, and Olympic Test Events to be held in January 2012 at the North Greenwich Arena. In addition, the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique and the IOC Tripartite Commission for Gymnastics allocated places to ensure certain minimum levels of representation.

Johanna Quaas is a German gymnast who, on 12 April 2012, was certified by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest active competitive gymnast. At the age of 86 when breaking the record, Quaas was a regular competitor in the amateur competition Landes-Seniorenspiele in Saxony. She became known worldwide when on 26 March 2012, YouTube user LieveDaffy uploaded two videos of Quaas performing gymnastics routines: one on the parallel bars and one on the floor. The clips became viral videos, and within six days of posting had generated over 1.1 million views each. In addition to being recognized by Guinness World Records, Quaas has received the Nadia Comăneci Sportsmanship Award from the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

Judy Wills Cline is a retired American trampoline gymnast and acrobat. Between 1964 and 1968, she won ten world titles in the trampoline, synchronized trampoline, and tumbling. She was the first world champion in these events and the only athlete to win the world championships in both trampoline and tumbling. She is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for winning most world individual titles in trampoline (5); and for performing most bounding whips (26), bounding fulls (16) and bounding double-fulls (8), all accomplished on a firm floor. She won 38 national titles in the trampoline, tumbling, vault, and floor exercise. In 1993, she was inducted to the U.S. Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

The European Trampoline Championships, sometimes referred to more formally as the European Championships in Trampoline, Double-Mini-Tramoline and Tumbling is the main trampoline gymnastics championships in Europe, including the disicplines of Double mini trampoline and tumbling, organized by the European Union of Gymnastics.

These are four lists of achievements in major international gymnastics events according to first-place, second-place and third-place results obtained by gymnasts representing different nations. The objective is not to create combined medal tables; the focus is on listing the best positions achieved by gymnasts in major international competitions, ranking the nations according to the most number of podiums accomplished by gymnasts of these nations. All seven competitive disciplines currently recognized by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) are covered: 1) acrobatic gymnastics, 2) aerobic gymnastics, 3) men's artistic gymnastics, 4) women's artistic gymnastics, 5) women's rhythmic gymnastics, 6) trampoline and tumbling, and 7) parkour.

Kristof Willerton is a British gymnast. He won gold in tumbling at the 2013 Trampoline World Championships, thereby becoming the first British man to win a world tumbling title. He was part of the British tumbling team that won gold at the 2017 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships, the 2019 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships and at the 2022 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships He studied biochemistry at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.

Jia Fangfang is a Chinese gymnast who competes in tumbling. She has won five world championships in tumbling, a world record. She was noted for both the difficulty and execution of her tumbling passes. Jia also competed in the floor exercise of artistic gymnastics in the 2018 and 2019 Chinese national competitions. Jia withdrew from the 2019 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships.
