Politics of Solomon Islands takes place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democratic,constitutional monarchy. Solomon Islands is an independent Commonwealth realm,where executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and a multi-party parliament.

Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania,to the east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu. Rennell and Bellona is one of the nine provinces of Solomon Islands,comprising two inhabited atolls,Rennell and Bellona,or Mu Ngava and Mu Ngiki respectively in Rennellese,as well as the uninhabited Indispensable Reef. Rennell and Bellona are both Polynesian-inhabited islands within the predominantly Melanesian Solomons. They are thus considered Polynesian outliers. The first known European to sight the islands was Mathew Boyd of Camberwell,London,commander of the merchant ship,Bellona,in 1793. The province has a combined population of 3,041,the least populous province of Solomon Islands. The Samoic language of the islands is,in English texts,called Rennellese. The province's capital is Tigoa,on Rennell Island.
The Solomon Islands Labour Party is a political party in Solomon Islands. The party was founded in 1988 by the Solomon Islands Council of Trade Unions after the leadership of the union split. Joses Tuhanuku,went on to lead the Labour Party,while Bartholomew Ulufa'alu formed the Solomon Islands Liberal Party.
Solomon Sunaone Mamaloni was a Solomon Islands politician. He was the first Chief Minister of the islands,and later served as Prime Minister for three spells in the 1980s and 1990s.

Before becoming prime minister,Sogavare served in the National Parliament representing East Choiseul since 1997.
Bartholomew (Bart) Ulufa'alu was the fifth Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands from 27 August 1997 to 30 June 2000.
Oceania is,to the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China,a stage for continuous diplomatic competition. The PRC dictates that no state can have diplomatic relations with both the PRC and the ROC. As of 2019,ten states in Oceania have diplomatic relations with the PRC,and four have diplomatic relations with the ROC. These numbers fluctuate as Pacific Island nations re-evaluate their foreign policies,and occasionally shift diplomatic recognition between Beijing and Taipei.
