The third season of the South Korean reality television competition show K-pop Star premiered on SBS on November 24, 2013, airing Sunday evenings at 4:55 pm KST as part of the Good Sunday lineup. [1] Jun Hyun-moo replaced Yoon Do-hyun as host and narrator, and Yoo Hye-young replaced Boom as live host. [2] Yang Hyun-suk and Park Jin-young returned as judges. BoA was replaced by You Hee-yeol, as she was focusing on her music career instead. [3] [4] Changes to the format occurred, including the choice of company for debut made immediately on the live finale. Survival Audition K-pop Star is a South Korean reality competition television series where three entertainment/talent agencies in South Korea hold worldwide auditions to find the next potential K-pop stars. Preliminary auditions are held around the world in Asia, North America, South America, Europe, and Australia. The final winner debuts with the company of his or her choice, along with a cash prize of three hundred million won, two brand new vehicles, opportunities to become commercial models and casting in dramas, and many more benefits.
Michelle Lee is a South Korean singer. After successfully auditioning for K-pop Star Season 1 in 2011, she was eventually signed to YG Entertainment as part of a new girl group called SuPearls. However, after two years of training, the group was suddenly disbanded before they could debut and Lee's contract was nullified.
15& was a South Korean duo formed by JYP Entertainment in 2012. The duo consisted of Park Ji-min and Baek Ye-rin. The name refers to fifteen being their age at debut, with the ampersand meaning they can continue to have success into the future. They released their debut single "I Dream" on October 5, 2012. Following a four-year hiatus which began in February 2015, the group de facto disbanded upon the expiration of both members' contracts with JYP Entertainment in 2019.
The second season of the South Korean reality television competition show K-pop Star premiered on SBS on November 18, 2012, airing Sunday evenings at 4:55 pm KST as part of the Good Sunday lineup. Yoon Do-hyun returned as host and narrator, and Boom returned as live host. Yang Hyun-suk, Park Jin-young, and BoA returned as judges. The season ended on April 6, 2013, with Akdong Musician crowned as winner and chose to sign with YG Entertainment.
Superstar K5 is the fifth season of the South Korean television talent show series Superstar K, which premiered on 9 August 2013 on Mnet and aired Friday nights at 11PM KST. On July 11, 2013, it was confirmed that Lee Seung-chul and Yoon Jong-shin would be returning to join the judges member panel, the latter having been missing from the previous season. This season also saw the addition of Lee Ha-neul of DJ DOC as a judge following the departure of Yoon Mi-rae. This season saw over 1,982,661 applicants across the multiple avenues of entry for the show.
The first season of Survival Audition K-pop Star premiered on December 4, 2011, airing every Sunday evening at 6:30 pm under the Good Sunday programming block on SBS, until April 29, 2012. The first winner was Park Ji-min, who chose to sign with JYP Entertainment.
Shannon Arrum Williams, known mononymously as Shannon, is a British streamer and former singer. In South Korea, she is known for being a contestant of K-pop Star 6: The Last Chance. Prior to debut, Shannon has released two singles: "Day and Night" with T-ara's Areum and Gavy NJ's Gun-ji in September 2012 and then "Remember You" featuring Speed's Jongkook in January 2014 before making her official debuted in December 2014 with digital single "Daybreak Rain". Since her debut, she has released two extended plays, six singles and three soundtrack appearances. In 2016, Shannon also made her debut as an actress with cast in drama Moorim School: Saga of the Brave. In 2019, Shannon left MBK Entertainment after the expiration of her contract. She has since retired as a singer and now works as a Twitch streamer.
Bang Ye-dam is a South Korean singer. He is best known as a former member of South Korean boy band Treasure formed in 2019 by YG Entertainment, and for competing in the second installment of K-pop Star (2012–2013) where he finished as runner-up. He debuted with the digital single titled "Wayo" (왜요) on June 5, 2020. In August 2023, he signed with GF Entertainment as soloist and producer.
Lee Seung-hoon, also known by the mononym Hoony, is a South Korean rapper and dancer. His musical career began in 2011 as a contestant in the first installation of K-pop Star (2011–2012); where he caught the attention of YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun-suk and was signed under his agency. Lee debuted with Winner on August 17, 2014, after the band competed and were titled as the victors of WIN: Who is Next (2013), and as a soloist on July 15, 2024.
The fourth season of the South Korean reality television competition show K-pop Star premiered on SBS on November 23, 2014, airing Sunday evenings at 4:50 pm KST as part of the Good Sunday lineup. Yang Hyun-suk, Park Jin-young, and You Hee-yeol returned as judges. The contest began receiving applications in June, with preliminary auditions taking place in Seoul and throughout South Korea, as well as the United States, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong until September 2014. The season ended on April 12, 2015, with Katie Kim crowned as winner and choosing to sign with YG Entertainment.
Sixteen is a 2015 reality girl group survival show created by JYP Entertainment and Mnet. The show pitted sixteen trainees against one another to secure a spot in the girl group Twice. Sixteen contestants were assessed not just by their singing and dancing abilities but also their charisma and personality. The show ran from May 5 to July 7 on Mnet for ten episodes.
The fourth season of Show Me the Money (SMTM) premiered on June 26, 2015, airing every Friday evening on Mnet, and ended with its last episode aired on August 28, 2015.

The contest began receiving applications in May, with preliminary auditions taking place in Seoul and throughout South Korea, as well as the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia until September 2014. The season ended on April 10, 2016, with Lee Soo-jung crowned as winner and choosing to sign with Antenna Music.
Lee Jin-ah is a South Korean singer-songwriter and jazz pianist. After finishing in third place on SBS's K-pop Star 4, she signed with Antenna in 2015. Her distinctive musical style combines jazz with pop and R&B, often featuring whimsical lyrics.
The sixth and final season of the South Korean reality television competition show K-pop Star, also branded as K-pop Star 6: The Last Chance, that premiered in SBS on November 20, 2016, until April 9, 2017. It aired every Sunday evenings as part of the Good Sunday lineup. Yang Hyun-suk, Park Jin-young, and You Hee-yeol will return as judges.
Stray Kids was a 2017 reality show created by JYP Entertainment and Mnet. It was a male idol debut project with the concept of "trainees versus JYP", the goal of which being the survival of all nine members to debut as a team. It was broadcast on Mnet from October 17 to December 19, 2017, on Tuesdays at 23:00 (KST) timeslot for ten episodes.
Mix Nine was a South Korean survival reality show broadcast on JTBC. In the show, YG Entertainment founder and producer Yang Hyun-suk traveled to music agencies across Korea to find up-and-coming K-pop stars. Throughout the episodes, contestants were progressively eliminated, culminating in a competition between a team of the final nine boys and one of the final nine girls. The winning team was to debut as idols, but their debut was ultimately cancelled following contract disputes between YG Entertainment and the contestants' respective agencies.
Loud is a 2021 South Korean boy group survival reality show organised by JYP Entertainment and P Nation. It was a collaboration between Psy and J.Y. Park to form 2 boy groups: one under JYP Entertainment and another one under P Nation. The program involved 75 contestants from different countries with artistic talents competing for a spot in one of the 2 groups. The program premiered on June 5, 2021, and was broadcast every Saturday at 9 PM KST on SBS. During the finale on September 11, 2 groups were formed, with P Nation's group, TNX, later debuting in 2022, while JYP's group were set to debut in the first half of 2023. As of 21 September 2024, however, they have yet to.
