Papua New Guinea, officially the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, is a country in Oceania that comprises the eastern half of the island of New Guinea and its offshore islands in Melanesia. Its capital, located along its southeastern coast, is Port Moresby. It is the world's third largest island country with an area of 462,840 km2 (178,700 sq mi).
Port Moresby, also referred to as Pom City or simply Moresby, is the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the largest cities in the southwestern Pacific outside of Australia and New Zealand. It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Papua, on the south-western coast of the Papuan Peninsula of the island of New Guinea. The city emerged as a trade centre in the second half of the 19th century. During World War II it was a prime objective for conquest by the Imperial Japanese forces during 1942–43 as a staging point and air base to cut off Australia from Southeast Asia and the Americas.
East Sepik is a province in Papua New Guinea. Its capital is Wewak. East Sepik has an estimated population of 433,481 people and is 43,426 km square in size.
Central Province is a province in Papua New Guinea located on the southern coast of the country. It has a population of 237,016 people and is 29,998 square kilometres (11,582 sq mi) in size. The seat of government of Central Province, which is located within the National Capital District outside the province, is the Port Moresby suburb of Konedobu. On 9 October 2007, the Central Province government announced plans to build a new provincial capital city at Bautama, which lies within Central Province near Port Moresby, although there has been little progress in constructing it.
Motu is a Central Papuan Tip language that is spoken by the Motuans, an indigenous ethnic group of Papua New Guinea. It is commonly used today in the region, particularly around the capital, Port Moresby.

Yule Island is a small island in Central Province, Papua New Guinea. It is located 160 km NW from Port Moresby, on the south coast of Papua New Guinea.
Sogeri town is the headquarters of the Sogeri Sub-District of the Kairuku-Hiri District in the Central Province of Papua New Guinea. It is located in the mountains eastward from Port Moresby and is situated in the Sogeri Plateau at about 500m above sea level. It is connected to Port Moresby by Sogeri Road. The town is near the famous Kokoda Trail. Sogeri has a rural hospital, a police station, some stores and a supermarket. It also has a fruit and vegetable market. The town also has an Elementary School, a Primary School and two Secondary Schools. Sogeri is also home to a couple of parks, scenic sightseeing areas, beautiful picnic places and rivers. The Sogeri sub-district has five hotels. Sogeri Lodge, Kokoda Trail Hotel and Koitaki Country Club are situated in the Upper Sogeri area. Two others are situated at the Lower Sogeri area, which includes Bluff Inn.
The Kairuku Rural LLG is a local level government area situated in the Kairuku-Hiri District of the Central Province of Papua New Guinea. In 2000, the LLG had 3,485 households, and a population of 19,503. As of 2007, 3,078 students are enrolled in 20 schools in the LLG. The area is divided into 17 wards, and spreads along the coast on either side of the Hiritano Highway leading north-west from the national capital, Port Moresby.
Bereina is a town in the Central Province of Papua New Guinea. It is located on the Hiritano Highway about 160 kilometres (100 mi) north-west of Port Moresby, and contains the headquarters of both the Kairuku-Hiri District and the Kairuku Rural local-level government area. Bereina also hosts a regional airport and a district town for the people of Kairuku Rural Area.

Hau'ofa, whose broadcasting career spanned more than fifty years, has been called "the voice of Papua New Guinea" for his focus on the country's economic, political and social issues. He was a long-time fixture at NBC PNG, the state-owned radio station, and, more recently, FM100, where he hosted the "Talk Back Show". His constant presence on the radio made him a "household name in PNG."
