It is directly affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Adult Soccer Association. The USL is headquartered in Tampa,Florida.
The Vancouver Whitecaps were a Canadian professional soccer club based in Vancouver,British Columbia. S. Robert "Bob" Contiguglia served as President of the United States Soccer Federation from 1998 to 2006. Among his achievements as President of U.S. Soccer were:successfully hosting the 1999 Women's World Cup,convincing FIFA to relocate the 2003 Women's World Cup to the United States after the original plans to host it in China fell through,the U.S. women's team winning gold at the 2004 Summer Olympics,and hiring Bruce Arena as coach for the United States men's national team. In May 2018,Contiguglia was selected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

MLS currently has 29 teams,with further expansion to 30 teams planned with the addition of San Diego FC in 2025. As of 2023,MLS is the largest first division professional soccer league in the world by number of clubs.
United 2026,also known as the North American 2026 bid,was a successful joint bid led by the United States Soccer Federation,together with the Canadian Soccer Association and the Mexican Football Federation,to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States,Canada,and Mexico.
Stephen Malik is a Welsh-American businessman and sports owner who owns and is chairman of North Carolina FC of United Soccer League and North Carolina Courage of National Women's Soccer League. He also founded and was executive chairman of medical technology company Medfusion,and was a member of the United States Soccer Federation board of directors from March 2017 to March 2019 and February 2020 to February 2021.
