Nasreen Rizvi, [1] also known as Kaveeta, is a Pakistani film actress who is known for films Tere Mere Sapne (1975), Society Girl , Mohabbat Aur Mehangai (1976), Kabhi Kabhi (1978), Mutthi Bhar Chawal (1978), Mian Biwi Razi (1982) and Qasam (1993). [1]

Early life

Nasreen Rizvi was born in 1960 in Karachi, Pakistan. [2] Her mother Mehtab Rizvi also had a career in the film industry and her father Tayyab Hussain Rizvi was a producer. [1] Kaveeta's elder sister Sangeeta was already associated with Pakistani cinema. [1] [3] [4] [5]

Acting

She has mostly worked in films produced and directed by her elder sister Sangeeta. [6] [1] Kaveeta worked in almost 70 films during her 20-year career from 1974 1994. [1] [7] [8] In 1994, she quit the Pakistani film industry and decided to settle in the United States. [9] [10] [11] [12]

Personal life

Actress Kaveeta also known as Kavita was born as Nasreen Rizvi. [2] She is also the aunt of British American actress Jiah Khan. [2]

Kaveeta won 4 Nigar Awards - first for the film Tere Mere Sapne (1975), then her second one in 1976 for 'Best Supporting Actress' for Society Girl , third in film Jeenay Nahin Doongi and fourth in film Barood Ki Chha (1989). [14]

Society Girl is a 1976 Pakistani drama film, directed by Sangeeta and written by Syed Noor. The film is produced by Raza Ali Rizvi, with music by Nazir Ali and film song lyrics by Tasleem Fazli. The film stars Sangeeta, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Kaveeta, Aslam Pervaiz, and Nisho. Sangeeta won a Special Nigar Award for directing this commercially successful film of 1976.

Fayyaz Hashmi was a Pakistani poet and screenwriter who worked both in the Indian and Pakistani film industry. He penned some memorable songs such as the famous nazm Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo and Tasveer teri dil mera behela nah sakegi. It is one of the greatest hits of Sangeeta and debut film of Syed Noor as a screenwriter.

Muthi Bhar Chaawal is a Pakistani television series directed by Sangeeta and originally aired on TV One in 2008. The series is based on the director's own film of the same name which in turn was based on the classic Urdu novella, "Ek Chadar Maili Si" by Rajinder Singh Bedi. The series stars Resham and Ahsan Khan.

Aaj Aur Kal is a 1976 Pakistani Urdu language social film produced by Irfan Malik and directed by S. Suleman. The lead cast included Shabnam, Rahat Kazmi, Nisho, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Qavi, and Lehri. The film was a remake of director Nazir Ajmeri's Paigham (1964). Aaj Aur Kal was a diamond jubilee hit at the box office and won 8 Nigar Awards for different categories, including the "best film" of the year.

Shehla Gill is a Pakistani actress. She worked in both Urdu and Punjabi films and is known for her roles in films Mutthi Bhar Chawal (1978), Permit (1979), 2 Rastay (1979), Sathi (1980), Anokha Daaj (1981) Wehshi Daku (1982) and Ek Din Bahu Ka (1982).
