Faisal Rehman, commonly known as Faisal, is a Pakistani film and television actor, screenwriter and director.

Early life and education

Faisal Rehman's ancestors hail from Afghanistan with roots in the Mohammadzai clan of Kabul belonging to Barakzai branch of the Durrani confederacy, tracing their roots to Ahmad Shah Abdali. His ancestors moved to India in 1905 during British Raj. His father Massud-ur-Rehman was a cinematographer, himself the younger brother of noted Bollywood actor Rehman, while his brother Fasih Ur Rehman is a classical dancer. [2]

Faisal did his secondary schooling at St. Anthony High School, Lahore.

Career

Actor

He was only 14 when he landed his first role in Nazar-ul-Islam's 1980 film Nahi Abhi Nahi , also starring famous film actress Shabnam. [3]

He is one of the founding members of "The Actors' Collective (ACT)", an association of actors, including film, theatre and televisions artists, in Pakistan, established in 2009 and based in Lahore. [4]

Director and screenwriter

He has directed and written numerous telefilms and short films, including World Ka Centre (2002), a portrayal of lower middle-class life in Lahore and young men intending to move to the United States, and which won the Special Jury Award at the 2002 Kara Film Festival. [5]

The film stars Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry and Mehwish Hayat. The supporting cast includes Sohai Ali Abro, Jawed Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Bushra Ansari, Ayesha Khan, Sarwat Gillani and Uzma Khan. The film is about a single man who is a divorce lawyer. He takes his three married friends on a trip to help them escape their wives and the monotony of their lives.

Rabia Iqbal Khan known by her stage name Kubra Khan, is a British-Pakistani actress who works in Urdu television and films. She made her debut in 2014 with the film Na Maloom Afraad. Khan is described among the nation's highest-paid actresses by the media.

<i>Punjab Nahi Jaungi</i> 2017 Pakistani film

Punjab Nahi Jaungi, is a 2017 Pakistani romantic comedy film directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. It stars Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat alongside Sohail Ahmed, Saba Hameed ,and Urwa Hocane in pivotal roles. The story is about a love triangle between the lead characters, and also exhibits the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. A spin-off, titled London Nahi Jaunga, was released to mixed reviews in 2022.
