Keith Richard Carter is an American football coach and former tight end who most recently served as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL).
At Downingtown High School, Carter was a three-year starter as a tight end and defensive end. He was recruited to play tight end by Gary Bernardi at UCLA. After redshirting his first year, Carter was awarded the Charles Pike Memorial Award for his help with the scout team. In 2002, Carter played in nine games, [1] starting three of them. He also took snaps that season as a blocking running back. [2] In April 2003, Carter plowed into the back of a car on his motorcycle, ending his playing career. [3] [4] [5]
Carter began coaching at UCLA while he was still a student there in 2005. In 2006, Carter coached the tight ends for Wagner College. [6] He then went to the University of Redlands where he coached the offensive line in 2007 and 2008. For the next three seasons, Carter coached at the University of San Diego working with the tight ends in 2009 and the offensive line in 2010 and 2011.
Carter made the jump to the NFL in 2012 where he coached with the Seahawks during the 2012 and 2013 seasons including Seattle's Super Bowl XLVIII Championship. [3]
After spending the 2014 [7] season back at the collegiate level, serving as the Spartans' run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Carter returned to the NFL to coach with the Falcons. He spent 2015 and 2016 as Atlanta's assistant offensive line coach and 2017 [6] as the team's running backs coach. [8]
In 2018, Carter became the offensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans. [9] [10]
On January 9, 2023, the Titans head coach Mike Vrabel announced that Carter had been fired. [11]
On January 24, 2023, the New York Jets announced that Carter was hired as the team’s offensive line coach and run game coordinator. [12]
On January 29, 2025, Carter and the Jets parted ways.
Carter and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters Kayla and Kamryn. He is the grandson of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Gino Marchetti, [13] who played with the Baltimore Colts. [2]
Michael Rene Mularkey is an American former professional football coach and tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Florida, and was drafted in the ninth round of the 1983 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers and lasted until the final round of cuts. Mularkey then signed with the Minnesota Vikings with whom he played for six seasons before playing another three with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Michael George Vrabel is an American football coach and former linebacker who is the head coach of the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio State, where he was a consensus All-American. Vrabel then played in the NFL for 14 seasons, primarily as a member of the Patriots, where he became a three-time Super Bowl champion and a First-team All-Pro during his eight-year tenure. Noted for his versatility, Vrabel scored a receiving touchdown in consecutive Super Bowls, Super Bowl XXXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIX, becoming the only primarily defensive player to score in two Super Bowls.
William E. Callahan is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2002 and 2003, leading them to Super Bowl XXXVII, where the Raiders lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 48–21. He was also the head coach for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2004 to 2007 and interim head coach for the Washington Redskins in 2019. Callahan is considered to be one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL. His son Brian Callahan is the head coach of the Titans.
Marques Tavita Tuiasosopo is an American college football coach and former professional player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Rice University, positions he has held since 2021. He played as a quarterback for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets. Tuiasosopo played college football for the Washington Huskies and was selected by the Raiders in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft.
Norman Yew Heen Chow is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Helvetic Guards in the European League of Football (ELF). He was the head football coach at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a position he held from December 2011 until November 2015 and previously held the offensive coordinator position for the Utah Utes, UCLA Bruins, the NFL's Tennessee Titans, USC Trojans, NC State Wolfpack, and BYU Cougars.
Kenneth Moore Whisenhunt is an American football coach and former tight end who is currently the head coach of the Memphis Showboats of the United Football League (UFL). He played college football at Georgia Tech and was drafted in the twelfth round of the 1985 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, with whom he played for four years. He subsequently played two more years with the Washington Redskins and another two with the New York Jets.
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team represents the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in NCAA Division I FBS college football. It was part of the Western Athletic Conference until July 2012, when the team joined the Mountain West Conference. From 2000 until 2013, the team was known simply as the Warriors. Sherman Smith is an American former professional football player who was a running back for eight seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers between 1976 and 1983. He was also the running backs coach for the Seahawks, as well as the former offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins. After his playing days were over, he embarked upon a second career as a football coach, starting at Redmond Jr. high school, then college, and finally back in the National Football League (NFL) with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, the Redskins, and the Seahawks.
Brian Michael Daboll is a Canadian American professional football coach who is the head coach of the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Buffalo Bills. Daboll has also served in various capacities as an assistant coach for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2016.
Aaron Kromer is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). Kromer served as the interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints for the first six games of the 2012 season.
Charles Frederick Kitchens Jr. is an American football coach who serves as the offensive coordinator for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Kitchens was previously tight ends coach and run game coordinator, and later the interim head coach for the Tar Heels' 2024 bowl game prior to the hiring of Bill Belichick. He has served as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and an assistant coach for the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys of the NFL. He has also spent stints as an assistant coach with Mississippi State, North Texas, LSU and Glenville State of the NCAA. He was fired in 2019 after his lone season as a head coach when his Browns team ended with a 6–10 record.
Juan Castillo is an American football coach who is the offensive line coach for the UCLA Bruins. He played college football at Texas A&I as a linebacker and played for the San Antonio Gunslingers of the United States Football League (USFL) in the mid-1980s. Castillo then coached high school and college football before joining the Eagles in 1995 as an offensive assistant. He has served as both a coach for tight ends and offensive line.
The 2013 San Jose State Spartans football team represented San José State University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Spartans were led by first year head coach Ron Caragher and played their home games at Spartan Stadium. The Spartans were first-year members of the Mountain West Conference in the West Division. They finished the season 6–6, 5-3 in Mountain West play to finish in a tie for third place in the West Division. Despite being bowl eligible, the Spartans were not invited to a bowl game.
