Patrick McPherson (born April 15, 1969) is an American professional football coach who is the tight ends coach for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). [1] In 2010, he joined the Seahawks as tight ends coach after 11 years with the Denver Broncos, where he was both the quarterbacks and tight ends coach. He joined the Broncos coaching staff in 1998, as a defensive assistant. In 1999, he became an offensive assistant. During his time as the quarterbacks coach from 2003 until 2006 his guidance lead Jake Plummer to set several single-season franchise records, including passing yards. He joined the Seabawks in 2010. During his time with Seattle, he won his second Super Bowl title when the Seahawks defeated his former team the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. [2]
On February 15, 2024, McPherson was named as the tight ends coach for the Carolina Panthers. [3]
McPherson was a linebacker and captain of the football team at Santa Clara University, where he received his bachelor's degree in English and an M.B.A. His father, Bill McPherson, was a long-time NFL assistant coach.

The Seahawks defeated the Broncos 43–8, the largest margin of victory for an underdog and tied with Super Bowl XXVII (1993) for the third largest point differential overall (35) in Super Bowl history. It was the first time the winning team scored over 40 points while holding their opponent to under 10. This became the first Super Bowl victory for the Seahawks and the fifth Super Bowl loss for the Broncos, at the time a league record for the most of any team. The game was played on February 2, 2014, at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the first Super Bowl played outdoors in a cold-weather city and the first Super Bowl to be played on February 2.
Carl Hamilton Smith is an American football coach who is the associate head coach for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He had previously served as quarterbacks coach of the Cleveland Browns and offensive coordinator for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.

The Broncos–Seahawks rivalry is an American football rivalry in the National Football League (NFL) between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. The teams were AFC West divisional rivals from 1977 until 2001, after which the Seahawks moved to the NFC West. The Broncos lead the series 35–22. The teams have met twice in the playoffs, most notably the 43–8 Seahawks victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.
