Kenneth Nathaniel Medwood (born December 14, 1987 in Belize City) [1] is a Belizean track and field athlete, specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. [2] He competed in the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Athletics and was his nation's flagbearer in the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Medwood grew up in Los Angeles, attending Theodore Roosevelt High School, where he was a three time Los Angeles City Section Champion in the high jump. He holds the Frosh/Soph division record. [3] In both 2005 [4] and 2006, [5] he finished in a tie for 4th place at the CIF California State Meet. He also played basketball and tennis.
Next he attended East Los Angeles College where he began to excel in the long hurdles. He was the state community college champion both years, [6] [7] establishing the state record in the 400 hurdles at 51.63. [8]
He moved on to compete at Long Beach State University where he was runner up in the Big West Conference in both the 400 hurdles and long jump in his first season. [9] He won the 2010 Big West title in the 400 meter hurdles in a then personal best 49.66, which also was his second time breaking the school record during his senior season. [10] He ended the year at the NCAA championships, where he finished as the 17th best collegiate hurdler in the nation. [11]
He set his personal record in the 400 hurdles at the 2012 Mt. SAC Relays, running 49.54.

André Lamar Phillips is a retired American track and field athlete who is best known for winning the 400 metres hurdles gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games.
Kevin C. Young is a former American athlete. He was the winner of the 400 metres hurdles at the 1992 Summer Olympics. In the final of this event he set a world record and Olympic record of 46.78 seconds, the first time 47 seconds was broken, and a world record that stood for nearly 29 years until it was broken by Karsten Warholm on July 1, 2021.
Mark James Crear is a double Olympic medalist in the 110 m hurdles from the United States. In 1996 he was second behind Allen Johnson. Four years later he came in third behind Anier García and silver medalist Terrence Trammell. Mark's personal best was 12.98 seconds.
Danny Lee Harris is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the 400-meter hurdles (400 mH), in which he won silver medals at the 1984 Olympics and the 1987 World Championships.
Dr. Sheila Ann Hudson is an American former track and field athlete and Olympian, ranked among the all-time greatest U.S. competitors in the women's triple jump. Throughout her career, she won nine U.S. triple jump titles, and set two world bests and nine American records. She previously held the indoor American record in the women's triple jump (46-8.25) as well as the outdoor American record in women's triple jump (47-3.5) with a wind aided all-time best jump of 48-1.25. Hudson won the silver medal at the 1994 IAAF World Cup, finished eighth at the 1995 World Indoor Championships, tenth at the 1996 Olympic Games and fifth at the 1998 IAAF World Cup.

He had entered the race as one of the favorites, having been ranked #1 in the world in 1967 and winning the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the event for the second time earlier that year. At the Olympics, his first heat victory established a new Olympic record, only to be surpassed by David Hemery two days later.
Shalonda Solomon is an American track and field sprinter. Her greatest international accomplishment is a silver medal in the 100 m at the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup, while representing the Americas team. She qualified for the 2011 World Championships in Athletics by winning the 200 m at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Her 22.15 in winning that race was the world-leading time for 2011. While running in the World Championships, she ran far slower than at the National Championships, finishing a fourth-place in the 200 m behind Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown, and American teammates Carmelita Jeter and defending champion Allyson Felix. Later in those championships, she won a gold medal by serving on the American 4 × 100 m relay team in the preliminary rounds, being replaced by Felix in the final. She has a distinct head bob while running, something noticeable since high school.
