Kermit is a city in and the county seat of Winkler County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,708 at the 2010 census. The city was named after Kermit Roosevelt following a visit by his father, President Theodore Roosevelt, to the county.
Klein Independent School District is a school district that covers 87.5 square miles (227 km2) in Harris County, Texas, United States. It became an independent school district in 1938. Almost all of the territory is unincorporated; a small portion of Houston is within the district. In the 2020–2021 school year, Klein ISD had 52,824 students. Kermit High School is the only public high school in Kermit, Texas and is under the administration of Kermit Independent School District located in Winkler County. It is located at the corner of G.E. "Tommy" Thompson Boulevard and North Avenue D in Kermit, Texas. As of the Spring of 2014, the school had an enrollment of 352 students attending grades nine through twelve. Kermit High School began the 2011–12 school year in its old facilities but moved to the new school facility on September 26, 2011 after the Kermit ISD Board of Trustees approved the new building on September 20, 2011. The school's mascot is the Yellow Jacket.
