Khalid Mehmood Soomro (7 May 1959 to 29 November 2014) was a Pakistani religious leader. [1]

Early life

He studied at Chandka Medical College in 1976, and in 1984 he graduated with a degree of MBBS.[ citation needed ] He completed postgraduate studies in Islamic culture from Sachal Sarmast Oriental College Larkana, and completed his religious studies from the International Islamic University, [2] Islamabad International Islamic University Islamabad, with distinction. Soomro obtained a degree from Al-Azhar University, Egypt, where he was a student of Gad al-Haq, the university Vice-Chancellor.[ citation needed ]

Career

His father belonged to an Islamic and Political Party called Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Pakistan. in 1988, his political career started when he was chosen as Secretary General in Jamiat-ulmae-Islam [Sindh]. On several occasions, he was a candidate for the Provincial and National Assembly.

He served as Senator of JUI-F from Sindh in Senate of Pakistan. [3]

Soomro set up a welfare organization called Al Mehmood Social Welfare Organization Pakistan.[ citation needed ]

Death

He was assassinated in Sukkur on 29 November 2014, at age 55. [4] His funeral procession was attended by thousands of people. [5] [6]

Darul Uloom Haqqania or Jamia Dar al-Ulum Haqqania is an Islamic Seminary in the town of Akora Khattak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern Pakistan. The seminary propagates the Hanafi Deobandi school of Sunni Islam. It was founded by Maulana Abdul Haq along the lines of the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary in India, where he had taught. It has been dubbed the "University of Jihad" due to its methods and content of instruction, along with the future occupations of its alumni. The 2019 Azadi march was a protest march led by Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) in Islamabad, Pakistan from 28 October 2019. The march opposed Prime Minister Imran Khan, demanding his resignation, and new elections. No women were part of the protests. The protest involved hundred of thousands of protesters.

The Aurat Azadi March was started in 2018 in Pakistan by members of Women Democratic Front, other organizations like Women's Action Forum, Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls alliance, Young Teachers Association, Home-Based Women Workers Union, Awami Workers Party, Awami Jamhoori Party also joined the march on International Women's Day in Islamabad. Aurat Azadi March and Aurat March are organized by different groups of women since 2018. Aurat Azadi March is organized by group of socialist feminists whereas Aurat March is organized by group of liberal feminists. Aurat March was also started the same year by the group of individual women known as "Hum Aurtein" collective in Karachi and Lahore.

Maulana Hamdullah Jan Dagai aka Dagai Baba Ji was a Pakistani Islamic scholar and politician. He was a student of Muhammad Zakariyya al-Kandhlawi and Hussain Ahmad Madani. He was born in 1909 in Dagai, a village in Swabi District. He studied at Darul Uloom Deoband and Mazahirul Uloom Saharanpur. He died on 12 January 2019, aged 110. He was politically affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
