King Stingray is the debut studio album from Australian rock group, King Stingray. It was released on 5 August 2022 and debuted at number 6 on the ARIA Charts.
Music Feeds said, "Their music combines classic and contemporary rock influences with the ancient tradition of manikay (song/songlines), which dates back tens of thousands of years." [2]
At the 2022 ARIA Music Awards, the album was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, Breakthrough Artist – Release and Best Cover Art. [9] The album won the 2022 Australian Music Prize, [10] [11] and was nominated for Australian Album of the Year at the 2022 J Awards. [12] At the AIR Awards of 2023, the album won Independent Album of the Year and Best Independent Rock Album or EP. [13] [14]

Andrew Stafford from The Guardian called the album "irresistibly joyful" saying "With Yothu Yindi in their bloodlines, the band have delivered a hooky and uptempo first album with a sound that's all their own."
James Di Fabrizio from Rolling Stone Australia said "King Stingray may be one of the most exciting rock bands to emerge from this country in a generation." Di Fabrizio added "Each track is a heady exploration of rhythm, psych and storytelling [and] come together like puzzle pieces, showcasing the beauty and community of the place they call home — the incomparable Arnhem Land." Al Newstead from Triple J said it "feels like an instant Australian classic", saying "perfectly fusing contemporary rock with Yolŋu manikay, King Stingray's fun, spirited first album is a captivating ode to country and community." [18] The album topped the Double J 50 best albums of the year list. [19]

FutureNever is the second studio album by the Australian musician Daniel Johns, released on 22 April 2022 by BMG Music Australia. It was announced in December 2021 and initially scheduled for release on 1 April 2022 until it was delayed to 22 April to include the song "Emergency Calls Only". Johns said that he did not want to release any singles before the album, as he intended it to "be enjoyed as an album". Johns missed his own album launch party due to crashing his car in a high-range DUI incident.
"Milkumana" is a song by Australian rock group King Stingray, released on 19 August 2021 as the third single from their self-titled debut studio album (2022). In Yolŋu Matha, "Milkumana" means to show, share or pass on knowledge through stories and song. Upon release, the group said the song is about "leadership" saying, "We are all living under the same sun, sailing in the same boat, towards a brighter future. It's about role models and the importance of setting good examples for the new generation."

Blue Christmas is the twentieth studio and first Christmas album by Scottish Australian musician Jimmy Barnes, released on 25 November 2022 through Bloodlines. Speaking on his motivations to release a Christmas album, in a press statement, Barnes said, "One of the greatest surprises I ever got from our children was when they all snuck away into the garage and secretly recorded themselves singing carols for me. On Christmas morning, when I awoke, they proudly gave me the recording and sat eagerly waiting for me to listen to it. That year I received lots of great gifts from various family members, but that recording had me weeping like a baby. It was the most beautiful gift I ever got. This album is my gift back to the kids, the grandkids and everyone out there who just wants to sit and sing with their family on Christmas. These songs take me back and they remind me why I'm here right now. I hope they do the same for you."
