Kirabo Namutebi (born 8 February 2005) [1] is a Ugandan swimmer who represented Uganda in the Women's 50m Freestyle Heat at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. [2] During the 2020 ISF World School Games in France, she led team Uganda to France. [3]

Early life

Namutebi was born and raised in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. She attends British School Kampala. Namutebi is the second born. Her mother, Hadija Namanda, is the former president of the Uganda Volleyball Federation. [4] Tendo began swimming at the age of seven. [5]

Swimming career

She competed in the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in the 50 metre freestyle, breaking the Ugandan national record with a time of 26.98. [6] She placed 38th out of 103 in the qualifying heats and did not advance to the semifinals. [7]

She represented Uganda at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where she competed in the 50 metre freestyle and was one of two flag bearers for Uganda in the Parade of Nations. [6]

Honors

She competed at the FINA World Junior Championship in Budapest, Hungary, in 2019, breaking the Uganda National women’s 50m freestyle record. She also participated in the Africa Junior Swimming Championship 2019 in Tunisia and won two Gold medals and two silver medals. In the Montgomery County Swim League 2019, she finished second in 50 freestyle and among the top six in 50 breaststroke and 50 Butterfly in the All-Stars event that climaxed the league.

In 2013, She was crowned the USPA Swimmer of the Year at 8 years, as well she scooped the USPA Uganda Female Swimmer of the Year in 2019. [8]

Evgeny Mikhailovich Rylov is a Russian competitive swimmer and Olympic champion specializing in backstroke events. He won three gold medals at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, and a bronze medal at his senior international debut at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan. He also won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and a gold medal at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, both were in the 200 metre backstroke event. Freya Ann Alexandra Anderson is a British swimmer, known primarily for her achievements as a freestyle sprinter, especially as a relay swimmer for Great Britain. In February 2024, Gorbenko won a silver medal at the Doha World Championships in the women's 400 meters individual medley. Anicka Delgado is an American and Ecuadorian swimmer. Born in the United States, she represents Ecuador internationally. She competed in the women's 50 metre butterfly and women's 100 metre freestyle events at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea. In both events she did not advance to compete in the semi-finals.

Kathleen Grace Noble is an Irish-Ugandan rower. She is recognized as the first Ugandan to qualify for rowing at the Olympics in the Women's Single Scull. She is also recognized as having achieved Uganda's best time so far in the 50m butterfly at the FINA World Swimming Championships.

Natalie Anisha Hinds is an American professional swimmer specializing in freestyle and butterfly events. Tendo Mukalazi is a Ugandan swimmer. In the 2022 Commonwealth Games, he represented Uganda in swimming where he participated in four different events; men’s 50m freestyle, men’s 100m freestyle, Mixed 4x 100m freestyle relay, Mixed 4x 100m Medley Relay and in the men’s 50m Breaststroke.

Gloria Anna Muzito is a Ugandan-Swedish swimmer. She won a bronze medal at the 2023 African Games in the 100m freestyle and thereby setting a national record.
