The Kirkville post office was established prior to the Civil War, and was still in operation in 1905. [3] [5]
A stave mill was located in Kirkville in the early 1900s. Many of its workers had come from the Green River valley in Kentucky. [6]

Millburg is an unincorporated community and, as of 2019, a census-designated place in Benton Charter Township near the boundary with Bainbridge Township in Berrien County, Michigan, US. It is situated several miles east of Benton Harbor and just east of the intersection of I-94 and I-196/US 31. It was the site of the first settlement within the township.
